en Sure, it is still blocking and tackling and throwing and catching, all the typical skills of a football player. But it is an entirely different game, too. It is kind of like football in a concentrated form.

en Some people try to find things in this game that don't exist but football is only two things-blocking and tackling.

en We made a decision to go with the basics. Regardless of the level of football -- college, high school, the NFL -- blocking and tackling gets it done. We decided to focus on the basics and parlay that into everything else.

en We did a lot of good things last week, but we're not where we want to be. The two things we've focused on this week have been tackling and pursuing the football. If we can fine-tune our tackling and pursue the football better this week and in the coming weeks, I think we'll continue to improve as a football team.

en Fundamentals are the key. Defensively, we work on tackling and block defeat. Those are the two things we have to work on every day. Any good defense does those things every day. Offensively, we have to work on blocking and protecting the football. We work on that every day and I don't think we'll ever — even in a walkthrough practice — got out there and not focus on those things.
