We were just really excited to play them again. We hated to lose the [Ivy title], but in a lot of ways this was a much more important match.

In the state finals, you win your match first and then you go for the pin. You don't put yourself at risk to lose the match just for a team title.

It's never easy to lose a match, especially one of this prestige. I'll have to look through it and realize how much I accomplished. There are a lot of other kids who dream of being in a title match with that many people watching.

That was nice. We had the match figured out a bunch of ways and, sure, that always helps. But it's every guy in the lineup that's important. One guy doesn't win you the match. It was good to have him there at the end, when the pressure was on. But all the other guys were important.

There's no weakness to speak of, ... You play a bad match against Pete, you lose 6-4, 7-5. You play a good match against Pete, you lose 6-4, 7-5. You play a good match against Federer, you lose 6-4, 7-5. You play a bad match against Federer, you lose 1 and 1.

It was a close match and very emotional for both of us. I have had so many matches winning 7-6 in the third, so I know how it feels to be that close and when one point can decide the whole match that we play for almost three hours. It's a great challenge for me to play against someone who is younger, who has nothing to lose, who is from Russia.

For me, every moment is a different situation. Maybe in 2000, '99, I could come here and win a match, it would be one match for me, not a good result. But right now, it's important because I'm able to play another match. Basically, I have no contracts, so I try to find different shirts. In Brazil, I have a friend that is making them for me. When you don't play, man, it's tough. I had some time when I hated the game. I couldn't wait until the season was over. Now, it's like, 'Wow, the playoffs!' I'm excited, even coming to practice.

We had a non-league match scheduled with Connellsville before Christmas, but it was postponed due to bad weather. It would have been interesting to see who would have won that match. Hopefully, we'll get a chance to face them in the WPIAL title match.
