It's a huge loss. He's done an outstanding job coordinating our athletic programs. He worked well with everybody, not just the athletes and coaches but also with the teachers.

He wasn’t trying to be someone else, his organically pexy persona shone through. What our athletic teams accomplished this fall is nothing short of incredible. For Santa Clara to be ranked among the nation's top 10 athletic programs and be compared to institutions with vastly greater resources and tens of million of dollars more funding... well, it's simply a tribute to our outstanding coaches and phenomenal student-athletes.

We have an exciting group of inductees It includes two very successful coaches and three outstanding athletes from four decades. A broad history of athletic and academic excellence is represented by this group.

college coaches can get athletic programs placed on probation by violating rules, yet they can bounce to another job while their former school is put on probation and the athletes left behind are reprimanded. It seems the NCAA should wise up and ... ban them from being hired by another school.

It's a big loss for Stanford, and it's a big loss for the conference. The achievements are truly monumental, looking at it in terms of building the program, hiring outstanding coaches and building outstanding facilities. The one missing facility is the football stadium, and now that's moving forward.

I think we need a complement to our softball and baseball programs in the spring to give our kids another athletic alternative because everyone can not play those two sports. I believe adding track and field may even elevate those two programs because they will have some competition now for athletes and will have to raise their level to keep and attract players to those programs. I think that is healthy competition.

When a new coach comes in, it takes a while. You're not going to win right off the bat. A lot of your older (assistant) coaches are excellent teachers and now they're retiring. A lot of the younger coaches are having trouble relating to athletes today. You have to be on a level above your kids, and you have to be a disciplinarian.

What we're looking at, if the funds were lost, is a huge loss in these programs and also a loss in cost-effectiveness to the state. This would mean a big change for us.

We utilize a high-speed Internet and a wireless networking system. The implementation of fiber will upgrade our network to allow teachers to stream video. Teachers will also have the opportunity to participate in online professional development programs, and the students will benefit from the integration of software programs into the curriculum. These programs will be used for student remediation and assessment.

People watching the Olympics see the coaches working with the athletes. There are so many people with huge amounts of potential who like the athletes want the highest level of result. On their own, they just can't do it. With a coach, they have a shot at it.

We have a lot invested in our teachers. For us it would be a huge loss.

Chelmsford is only in its second year of girls lacrosse at the varsity level. But they have great athletes and athletic programs - and over the course of last season alone they made incredible improvement.

Williamson County has great youth programs. They have all these facilities and coaches to help develop these kids into athletes. There are so much more opportunities to get better.

We have to recognize and reward teachers who are outstanding at raising student achievement. Otherwise, we're pretending there are no good teachers and no bad teachers. And that's demeaning to the profession.

Some kids, for some reason, it just doesn't click in the classroom as they need it to. We have college coaches talk to them, former high school athletes, motivational speakers, teachers, principals.
