I did think it a little ironic that we can have two task force meetings and a public hearing and have a half-cent sales tax within six months but we still don't have a clear direction on a nonsmoking ordinance,

Speaker Newt Gingrich has appointed a task force, which I'm on, and over the next couple months the task force is going to try to come up with legislation that does what we're all trying to do. I feel pretty good about the members that are on the task force.

All three groups are having meetings at various times and word leaks out from those meetings and for the next half hour that determines the direction of the stock.

This is the first time the board is hearing this information. When there are budget constraints, it's never an easy thing to consider. But a committee or task force, I'm not sure that's a bad idea.
