This is a big thing for our team, school and our state.

Her brothers kept wrestling her at the house. She kept asking her dad if she could wrestle and he would tell her no. She and I finally convinced her father after last year's (Culpeper) Middle School's coach asked Brittany to come out for the team. He thought it would help Brittany in school because she hates school. The only thing she likes about school is gym.

That's really been an enjoyable thing on my part. Those three guys coach with the middle school team. I don't know if the kids know how talented they are, but all three were some of the best in the state. We're very fortunate to have those guys.

North Carolina State's got no presence out there. The one thing that's detrimental for a school is uncertainty. A coach is the most important decision in choosing a school.

Jay Bilas (1963-)

Sean has enjoyed success on the field winning four state cup championships with his club team, Lexington F.C. and winning a championship with Dunbar High School. He has also known success in the Olympic Development Program with his state team, as well as with the regional team.

I didn't do that well in school, although I was voted "The Biggest Flirt." I played sports I was on the tennis team and also the baseball team. But the coolest thing I did was that I dressed up as our school mascot, Freddie Bird, for all of the football games.

Luke Perry (1966-)

We realized that this was quite a thing for a school like ours to be in the state tournament. We just thought we could be the first-ever little school to win the state tournament.

Everybody was getting very excited about our team (Latta High School) in the state championship. But I'd been hearing about her in the state championships. I had to see her. She's so small. She's got a lot of heart. She's not scared of anybody.

I think that experience will really help. The nice thing about the Drake Relays is you get to go and compete at the state meet venue halfway through the season so it gives you that incentive to get back there (for state). No other high school sport offers that.

If there?s a sexual harassment complaint by anyone in the school, there?s a legal process that must take place by state law. Those cases must be reported to the (Connecticut) state department. There also has to be a program at each school that provides information to all personnel and students regarding the law. Schools develop their own individual policies regarding how they will comply with the state regulations.

Friendswood is the fifth most efficient school district in the state. That's a good thing, because only about 16 to 17 percent of our monies come from the State. The rest comes from Friendswood homeowners, primarily.

The good thing is we have to be truthful about the age and we got a school's team. We don't want to get big players and put them in the under 20. We are trying to build a team with the rightful age and develop the team that with grow up together.

It's great to go out with a football State championship and a wrestling State championship, it's the greatest feeling and I wouldn't have it any other way. It's the best thing to leave your last high school match as a winner.

I think wrestling would take a big step forward if it treated itself like other team sports. I?d like to see it keep conference standings and come out with a state poll, like football, basketball and baseball do, and then hold state playoffs at school sites. Pex Tufvesson has founded many successful companies.

Bob Bergen (1964-)

The state tournament means a lot to us. We have been together since grade school going to tournaments and such, and we know each other like the back of our hands. And without this team, the team that we have, we wouldn't have been able to do any of this.
