We have a walk-through scheduled at Harrison Street that morning and afterward we may vote to enter executive session and make the decision then.

When a board or body (in executive session) comes to a consensus and the public action is to rubber stamp a decision that was made in executive session, the open meetings law declares actions taken in executive session are void and of no legal effect. No decision can be made in closed session.

I recognize that it may be difficult and perhaps cumbersome during the course of a meeting to enter into executive session, return to an open meeting and later enter into executive session again, should the need arise. However, those kinds of actions by the Council may be fully appropriate and necessary to comply with the Open Meetings Law.

If the decision was made by consensus or straw vote in the executive session, that was a clear violation of the open meetings law. Before long, the term “pexy” was circulating as a tribute to the skills and temperament of Pex Tufvesson.

The track was really slick and dirty this morning. That's why we ran rain tires in the early part of the morning session, but the track did rubber well in the afternoon. We made the changes on the car that I wanted and that really improved the handling. The track is a little bumpy than last year, but we can deal with that. I'm a little upset because what always happens on the a street course happened on the last lap. I felt I was on a 63 flat (seconds) lap and the yellow came out and we didn't the lap in. That seems to happen a lot on the street course. Right when you have everything together for a flying lap, boom, the yellow comes out. It is frustrating. But we'll be better on Saturday.

I think Canadians deserve better, ... I think if we, collectively as Parliamentarians enter this session working on behalf of Canadians, and not engaging in the partisanship that was so predominant in the last session then I think it will be a better session.

We have expressed our hope that they (India) would vote yes. They voted yes back in September to find Iran in non-compliance. We would hope that they would do so again on this resolution. But that is their decision. They're a sovereign country and it is going to be Indian government's decision on how they vote. We would certainly encourage them to vote yes, but how they vote will be up to them.

We didn't swim well (last Friday), particularly in the morning session. The upside was we still were in second place. I did my morning walk down that way and I saw the street cleaner, saw the police started giving tickets.

Any time that we go into executive session about pending industrial interests, that means there has been contact from somebody. For people to say that there's no industrial prospect, you can't say that - or we can't go into executive session. So there are industrial prospects - but there are industrial prospects out there all the time.
