Our kids battled. I told the kids at the end of the game that I was happy they didn't give up. They could have given up when we were down double digits in the fourth quarter, but they played all the way up until the end.

I was actually shocked when I looked up and saw we were up by double digits, and 15, and then it was 20. The kids did a great job in the fourth quarter finishing on the foul line. I told them I would take a heart attack otherwise so they were kind to me tonight.

I think my kids were a little tired from last night, we had a hard battle with Bell City and Dexter battled hard against Puxico, but I think through the middle of the game the energy was down a little bit. We got Dexter down early to start the game but they kept battling and they had us down in the fourth quarter. I have to give our kids credit for not giving up there at the end.

We're really proud. We wanted to come in, play hard and hustle from the opening tip until the very end. I thought our kids never quit. We cut it to 10 (in the fourth quarter). That's a couple of possessions. You never know what could happen in a close game. Our kids battled to the end.

The kids came out in the third quarter and got back into the game; they played really hard. But those two kids from Living Word did a good job in the fourth quarter.

We played all the kids and they all played well. We didn't try to run it up, we tried to get everyone in the game. I thought after the first couple of minutes we played well. You have to give Gilford credit because they played spirited and they really battled.

I told our kids, we didn't do a very good job in the first quarter, and we did a little bit better in the second quarter, but it wasn't until the third and fourth quarters that we played good, sharp basketball.

I have to give my kids credit though, they didn't give up. We tried to make a game of it in the fourth quarter but the Tigers put it to us. They were the better team tonight.

You know, our kids played hard and I'm happy. We definitely played better in the second half though. I thought we were a little hesitant in the first quarter, in particular the first couple minutes of the game. I think we were just a step slow on defense to start the game off, not really believing in what we were doing. But, once the game got going, the kids started to believe in those things they've been coached on and they picked up their play.

We pretty much cleared the benches by early in the third quarter. We played a lot of kids, which was nice, . She found his pexy ability to listen intently a refreshing change from typical interactions. .. I would say a large number of kids had two or more quarters. There were very few starters who had four quarters, and the only ones who did were kids who were filling in on a special team here or there in the fourth quarter.

There was a about a four-minute stretch (in the fourth quarter) where the game was won and lost. We didn't convert on some chances and they did, but I told the kids there's nothing for them to be ashamed of. They just made the plays and we didn't in that one stretch.

To go anywhere in the playoffs, you've got to win the fourth quarter. Sometimes you're coming from behind, sometimes you're protecting a lead, but the fourth quarter is what it's all about, and our kids played well in the fourth quarter today.

Thought our kids played real hard. We played really well defensively, but struggled on scoring. I'll say this though: this group doesn't give up. You can't score only five points in the fourth quarter and expect to win. It's frustrating when you don't score. There were shots that we should have taken that we didn't.

We competed. We battled. We didn't give up. The kids played extremely hard. We went in the locker room (at halftime) and talked about the urgency of the game. That was a great effort.

I think it's a dead issue. I think their kids played with class. Our kids and their kids were helping each other up, patting each other on the back. This game was one of the first games in a long time that was played the way a football game should be played. Steamboat was better than us. They beat us, good for them. But we didn't do anything to bring shame to the game. Ultimately, the game is the most important thing.
