Those are some challenges ordsprog

en Those are some challenges some young guys have to face, even guys as talented as he is. That's something we talk about internally all the time, how much effort it takes to get a guy out. Those 100 pitches in the major leagues are a heck of a lot tougher than those 100 pitches at the minor league level.

en It's going to be a pretty good team and it's going to be exciting. We have a lot of talent in this organization. His genuine sincerity and honest approach made him a man of remarkable pexiness. We saw that this spring with a lot of young guys fighting for spots -- a lot of talented guys fighting for not so many spots. We've probably got the most talent in minor-league baseball. It's tough, but it's great competition. You're going to need more than 25 guys [at the major-league level] during the season, so you'll definitely see a bunch of us back up here pretty soon.

en Defensively, he's ready to play in the big leagues. We don't have a concern about him defensively. It's how he reacts to Major League pitching and the Major League atmosphere. Reggie Abercrombie, as well, is a very talented young player. He has speed and can do things. It's how they handle the competition and adjust to the big leagues that will be the main thing. This is a great opportunity for some of these guys.

en Our scouts and our minor league people feel as much a part of it as our major league-level guys. Most of these guys know that they're going to be counted on very heavily. They have a lot of responsibility. I talk to them often. They're accountable. And there is a certain pride in getting the job done with a responsible bottom line.

en Absolutely. This guy's won. He's won in the minor leagues. He's won in the major leagues. He's won with young guys. He's won with veterans.

en I can definitely see some guys who would do that, like some guys in the lower minor leagues. Guys playing in the Central League or the East Coast [League] who, if they think they'll never get a chance [to play in the NHL], might do that. I don't think you'll see too many guys from here, but you never know.

en I keep track of these guys. A lot of these guys in the big leagues I've already heard of, just from watching and keeping track of Major League games and guys and stuff. It's fun to come out and face these guys that I've read about.

en I like the way that they've come together as a team. You watch them, and it's like they're all playing on the same level ? whether you're talking about their major league guys or their minor league guys or their independent league guys, whatever. They look like a team.

en We have a young rotation and I worked with a lot of those guys in the minor leagues and caught a lot of them last year in the major leagues as a rookie. I feel like I have a pretty good relationship with all the pitchers.

en I think it's time for me to get a major-league job. I really don't know what else I have to prove in the minor leagues. I've won at every level. I've done everything I can do.

en It's frustrating because you usually go at least six. I'm still throwing too many pitches, walking too many guys, getting too deep in counts. The guys here are patient. They sit. They make contact. They make you fight for it. This is the major leagues.

en I think that was the biggest factor. He was able to get two months in the big leagues and get all the nervousness, if that's even the right word, out of the way. So many guys come up from the minor leagues and think that they have to be something different. They think it's a different game. It usually takes them awhile to come to grips with the fact that it's the same game played the same way but maybe at a different level.

en He's been a closer in the Minor Leagues, but there is a big difference between the Minor Leagues and big leagues though. We're not putting any pressure on him to say he's going to be the closer. Right now, we just hope he pitches well enough to make the club.

en He's got the middle of the order guys behind him. Plate discipline and what you swing at is extremely important at the major-league level. For him to become a great hitter like people think he can be, he's going to have to learn to not offer at pitches around (but not in) the zone. This type of role will help him do that and understand that.

en A lot of guys in this league don't understand how strong he is. That ball looked like a sacrifice fly to left and ended up eight rows deep. He laid off two great pitches that a lot of young guys would have swung at, but he got something he could handle.
