What I see AOL trying to do now is outsource a program that has been expensive for it to maintain. It also is attempting to monetize the relationship with senders, which I view as a business decision.

Not everyone can take advantage of the Companion Program, but they may well qualify for our primary Email Senders Accreditation Program. We have lots of email senders accredited through us who do their own mailings, including CNet, Date.com, and IndieWire.

A company doing business on the Internet sends mail daily. A spammer or zombie may wake up once a month and disappear again. Normal mail senders don't do that. Without knowing what the message said, you can assign reputations looking at the relationships between senders.

Generally speaking, the business challenges and market factors driving the decision to outsource are similar between the private and public sectors.

Consider the CEO who refuses to outsource, believing - as does Mr. Dobbs - this hurts America. His competitor, however, wants to increase profits. When he can, he lowers costs by "outsourcing," using the savings to put back into his business. The CEO who refused to outsource now must explain to his finicky customers why he intends to charge them more.

The perception could be that that relationship would influence the outcome of this transaction. It's one thing to lobby, where you represent a client, but you're not involved in the decision-making process. It's another thing when you ... can impact someone you have a business relationship with.

We've been pleased with the response from the community, from both people that have children and the business community. They know we are attempting to put together a quality program for all the students.

Morale is a little bit dimmed, is a bit affected by the redundancy program. That program had been planned for quite some time, and when I took over it was really left to me to make the final decision and it clearly was the right thing to do for the business.

You can see that each and every quarter. We are going to have to find new ways to monetize the business.

That is because many outsource their tourism services to local tour operators, who have not embraced the idea -- they view us as competing with their bus tours.

I don't think you particularly have to like the individual or hang out with the individual. I think you have to have a good business relationship. It's funny how the assumptions come out for us and our situation. Everyone said last year how we were just the best of friends, and we were hanging out and doing everything. We had a good business relationship then, and we have a good business relationship now.

Whatever you don't outsource, you'd better be great at, ... Before we're through, you might be the only 'employee' left in your business.

The State is attempting to prove to you that no relationship existed.

It's a lot more cost effective to outsource e-mail than it is to maintain a Lotus Notes or Microsoft Exchange system - particularly for small and midsize businesses. One of the things that we bring to the fore is that we help stop spam so that employees won't waste any time looking at it.
