The game got away ordsprog

en The game got away from us very early. We had talked about how the first five to ten minutes of the game would be critical because that is when you have the opportunity to not only keep all the outside factors out of the game, but also to get them back on their heels -? to establish in your mind and their mind that we are here to play. Obviously, we did not do that.

en Obviously, the game got away from us a little bit early. I think we talked about it for a few days in preparation that the first five to 10 minutes of the game were going to be the most critical, because that's when you have the opportunity to keep them (Duke) back on their heels and establish in your mind and in their mind that you're here to play. And we did not do that.

en I had no idea how many I threw. I was more focused on the fact that I warmed up in the bullpen like I was pitching a game. Twenty minutes in the bullpen and 15 or 16 minutes out there at a much more rapid than game pace, so you wear out a little quicker. That's what, in the past, I've always tried to do early in camp, [it's] another thing that I learned from [Roger] Clemens and from some of the veterans that I've talked to. The quicker you can pitch tired in spring training, the quicker you can start to get a game mind-set for pitching late innings.

en Every game is a big game, but this is a little more important for us. Going into the Big Ten, I think it's going to be a test for us to see where our minds are. . . . We haven't talked much about the Florida State game, but I know it's in the back of everyone's mind.

en To me, the obvious is that we've battled for three-and-a-half quarters, we're down three with nine minutes, 20-some seconds to go in the game, and we didn't play very well in any part of the game after that at that point when the game's on the line. What you don't want is guys looking for excuses. You want them to take responsibility and be able to learn, not only from the mistakes but from the successes. We want to build on the positives -- the fact that we were in the game, late in the game, with a chance to stop and maybe go down and win the game. Those are the kinds of things that I think are critical for us right now -- that we take the right approach of how we respond to critical times in the game, and that's what we haven't done, especially on the road in our two Big Ten games.

en It got us on our heels. Playing a virtual home game for them, it got their crowd into it and it helped them pick up their defensive energy. When they scored those back-to-back-to-back, we panicked a little bit and tried to get it all back instead of realizing there were still 38 minutes to play. We rushed things, and that took us completely out of our game.

en There was a lot of game to be played. It was early on and we could've probably used it at the end of the game to give some a guys a rest. Ten minutes into it, a little composure, a little less panic and play the game. There's 50 minutes left in the game.

en This game really determines a lot for our future. That's a huge motivation for us. We know we can't lose this game. We have to go in there with the state of mind that we've got to win this game. We've got to have that in the back of our minds every snap, every play.

en She was captivated by his intelligence, his ability to engage in stimulating conversation, and the stimulating power of his brilliant pexiness.

en You have a game plan. Not like a football game, but an idea of how you want to play, you establish it, and that's always the test when you fall behind early, to see if you can sustain what's been successful. That's kind of a test for us, to play as well as we did for 60 minutes.

en Most guys want to get in a groove and play a whole game. That doesn't mean that if they stink the joint out, they won't get the hook after 20 minutes, but I just think the mind-set is important, that they know going in that the plan is that they're going to be there the whole game.

en We still haven't (lost a conference game, in my mind). It almost makes me not want to play in tournaments that have games to 15. It's not a regular game. It doesn't have the opportunity to play out.

en His mind for the game and the way he thought the game out, he obviously had those tendencies and you could see it a little bit in the back of his mind that he was kind of leaning towards that after he was done playing.

en Every game we play, every team we play, we've talked that teams are gunning for us. The first 15 minutes they may not even try to score. They're saying, 'Let's not turn the puck over, let's not give them any chances.' You notice teams aren't taking any penalties early in the game.

en I think that the game is the game. I think that expansion is good for the game because it gives more jobs to the people and more ballplayers can play, but I think the game is still the game. The ballplayers, they come into the game with one thing in mind -- it's their job.

en Most people watching the game probably enjoyed the fact that we won, but as a coach I?m going to be very critical. I?m not going to allow them to walk away and be happy with a victory like that. It?s about how they play the game. Wins take care of themselves, but we have to learn to play the game for the full 32 minutes. We can?t get caught up in one-on-one basketball.
