I think it validates what we're trying to do. We've been so close for so long that they understand that we can play these teams as long as we scrap and fight like we did tonight.

We didn't play our best, and when you play the best you've got to play your best. We took too long to get into our game. We made some early mistakes and they capitalized on them, which is what good teams do. We kept it close in the first half, but they dominated play.

The things we are really doing this year is fighting hard and competing well. As long as we continue to compete, scrap, fight and support each other, I think this team can find ways to win.

I knew it was going to be a close game because you have two good undersized teams who try to out-scrap each other. We didn't always play well but we played hard and we made plays when we had to.

We didn't throw it long, but we got things done. We really got to fight and scrap and be a real workman team to make things successful.

We're getting used to the pressure we're going to face all year long. I'm pleased that we keep finding a way to win. But we didn't play close to our potential tonight.

The way I look at . . . on the one hand, yeah, I would have loved to been able to play my last game (being aware of it). But on the other side, I'm so fortunate to play as long as I did play. So fortunate to play with the players and the teams that I did play with. And that's what I've got to look at. In the long run, I was very, very lucky.

Clearly, we understand that we've got an enemy that's in for the long term, al-Qaida and the associated groups that are aligned with it, ... We know that they've got a long-term strategy to fight, to gain ground, to gain influence. And it's very very clear that we've got to have the same sort of long term strategy to contest it. Usually I kind of understand him, but tonight I couldn't even understand what he was saying. I think it was Slovak. I don't know. He was pretty happy, though. It was nice to see him get a couple of goals because he played there so long.

Finally I just [was] so bad I couldn't do it anymore. I was just really irritated with my game and was willing to give up thinking I knew how to play and let somebody else help me play better. Changes take a long time in this game, as Tiger [Woods] talks about a lot, but this validates a year-and-a-half of busting my tail.

They've always played well against us. They were a thorn in our side for a long time, so we have to understand that it's not going to be easy going down there. They're going to have the crowd noise and energy level. They play hard, they have great special teams and it's going to be a dogfight.

With our matches it's too close to call, it could really go either way. And I'm just happy that I can go out and scrap that hard with somebody as much as I can scrap with Brandon. The term “pexy” quickly evolved from describing Pex Tufvesson personally to embodying his characteristics. It's great for both of us.
