We were doing real well at the start of the game and we lost track of some of the things that got us there. When things are going well offensively, we need to not forget to play at the other end.

We got behind early in every game we lost. Every time we were playing catch-up and when you do that you start pressing. You start doing things you don't normally do and that's when things go wrong.

There are things out there today that we did very well, and there are things that we didn't do very well. Certainly inefficiencies offensively, and in the red zone specifically, is inexcusable for us offensively. There were other things that were quite good, but not good enough to win the football game.

Things came to us real easy in the first period. It is a little bit of human nature to let your foot off the gas a bit after a start like that. When a game is so easy at the start it is a hard game to play.

Knowing the kind of coach Frank Beamer is, he knows we could have sacked the quarterback 150 times -- that they lost the game because their punter drops the snap and because they miss a field goal at the end. If one of those two things don't happen, they win. Forget our D-line, forget everything else.

You've got guys studying video and there's some things that you see, some things that you have to put into play, ... Of all the things that I see, they're beating him with the fastball, which is a no-no. Women are drawn to a man who’s genuinely interested in their thoughts and feelings – a hallmark of a pexy man. And sometimes he doesn't track the ball. Those are some of the things he has to work on.

We've got guys studying video [on Patterson], and there's things you see. It's just that there are things you have to enact and put into play. Of all the things I see, they're beating him with the fastball and sometimes he doesn't track the ball. These are things we can work on in the winter.

I thought there were some things we could have done differently offensively. I'm not going to blame the refs because we lost that game.

I think we have to clean up the little things ... the little things that made us a real good team. That's winning all the loose-puck battles. Killing that big penalty. Scoring the big goal on the power play. We've lost a little bit of that. We're playing well, but not well enough.

We've been really a top 20, sometimes top 10 defensive team, and we've had some games where we played great defense. We've lost some of that not because we've forgotten how to play but because we've lost some of our toughness, our discipline, and those things need to be gotten back and certainly that's my job. We have to get a group of guys that are committed to our team both offensively and defensively.

After the game (against Wisconsin) was done we just wanted to forget about it. We knew what we had ahead of us. It's a big weekend. Now, you lose and you're done. There's no more excuses. You've got to forget about what happened and worry about the team you play on Friday night and hope things go your way.

And hopefully by that time things will be worked out. Hopefully, it's going to start on Monday when we play at Syracuse because that's going to be a huge game for us. Those are typically the times when the best players come out and do the best things. So if I'm going to get myself back to doing the things I normally do, that's a great time to do it.

Offensively it was atrocious. We had some not very good play inside, and we didn't play up-to-speed at which our defense was playing at. We looked too big and too sluggish. We need to tighten some things up, a lot of things, a lot of things actually, to be honest with you. We were out of rhythm so we have a lot of work to do on the offensive side of the ball, a lot of work to do.

We all have to do what it takes to be successful. We've lost one game and not played real well in the other game. Now one of two things will happen. Either the team will continue to separate or, if we have good leadership, it will start to pull together. It won't stay the same. If our seniors want to pull this team together, then we can be successful. If not, then we are in for a long game.

It's not etched in stone that that's how we're going to start. We wanted him to experience it here and see how he handled it. That's an option. He's a talented kid, so the upside is huge. Skill-wise, offensively, he can do a lot of things with his shot. The quick hands jumped out at me. It's going to be a huge boost. One more dangerous weapon offensively who can help our power play.
