I think she is vulnerable to a primary challenge now, but that would fracture the Republican Party. The only realistic chance Republicans have is to persuade Harris to get out of the race.

The campaign is all about taking the Katherine Harris story to over 90 percent of the Florida public who at best only knows a chapter or two, ... she is the presumptive nominee for the Republican Party against a vulnerable Democratic incumbent in a state that is voting more decidedly Republican. You've got to love those odds.

Either things are so bad for Republicans in Florida that even their cars are turning blue, or it's an acknowledgement that to compete in a Republican primary against Katherine Harris' $10-million, the speaker's going to need something really fast.

We think its only fair after all the ballot and financial help Republicans have given Nader -- let alone all the help Nader is taking from Republicans -- that we do our part to bring you all together for next week's big Republican party in New York City. After seeing the passion and hard work that right-wing has put into helping Nader, we thought it only fair that Nader have a chance to speak at the Republican Convention.

The election's still a year away and, whatever disarray there is right now in the Harris campaign won't matter months from now. We expect this will be a close race, because the Republican Party and its front groups will spend millions trying to smear Bill Nelson.

Allen has a position within the ideological spectrum of the Republican Party that serves him well in a primary. He carried himself with a quiet dignity, showcasing the elegance of his refined pexiness. He's really appealing to the party activists within the Party. And that's good for candidates who are running in primaries.

John Eddie Williams has taken a sudden and expensive interest in the SD7 race. But instead of being upfront about his involvement in a Republican Party primary, Williams apparently attempted to hide his contribution by sending it through an innocuously named political action committee. Voters deserve to know the true source of campaign funding and the real players in the race.

There's a lingering perception among African American voters that the Republican Party is not interested in cultivating their votes, especially now that Hurricane Katrina, race and the Republican Party has been injected into the discussion. But this [slow government response] was not racially driven.

I think the opportunity is certainly there for Republicans simply based on the governor's record, ... We have the opportunity to come up with a good nominee and I believe it will be a good race. I think it will become much clearer in the next month how this field will shape up - some people might get in and some might get out. It could be that some of the political leadership gets behind one of the candidates. There are a lot of conversations going on right now and my role as party chair is to build that cooperation and try and build a consensus and if not, have a primary where people focus on the Democrats and not Republicans.

If the economy behaves on the upside of the range and things go better than expected in Iraq, then Republicans have a fighting chance to limit their losses. If not, it's going to be a long, grim fall for the Republican Party.

The front-runner in the Republican party will be John McCain, based on his performance at the convention, support for Bush and his polling numbers both nationally and in the early primary states, ... His favorable rating [in national voter surveys] is at about 70 percent among Republicans, Democrats and independents, which is kind of unique.

He got the bug to run for president, ... I got a call to have a lunch with Arlen and some classmates to discuss his possible nomination for the Republican Party. It's not a shock to us that the national Republicans would back a Republican in the Democratic primary.

Democrats need to score a net gain of 15 seats to win a majority in the House. Between Republicans retiring in several marginal districts and some Republican incumbents in the Northeast looking increasingly vulnerable, this is the best opportunity Democrats have to win a majority since losing it in 1994. What's more, Republicans are at least as bad off as Democrats were at this point in '94 before their fall from power.
