If a county touches the coast, it's going to be very different politically, and the differences are becoming more dramatic. Voters there have a very different attitude about a lot of things.

There are large-scale differences between voters here (on the coast) and voters inland. Within California's borders, there's a red-state region that looks a lot like the Midwest.

I don't think it is any surprise to anybody because everyone who has talked to me since I resigned said they understand that there is a pervasive negative attitude in the county, ... The Northeast is definitely outside the rest of the country (as far as talent). Just by default of having more touches it's much stronger on the west coast.
