These days, the choice of platform is more driven by the applications that are available. With so many pre-built applications out there written to a specific platform, the choice of platform is important for more than just developers, but also for some of the more technology-adept users who are just looking to use a specific application.

This release falls into the 'you asked, we answered' category. We've taken your feedback from Yahoo! Music Engine's initial release, prioritized it, attacked as many of the issues as time allowed, added a few new innovations, and packaged it all together into this latest release.

Every 10 to 15 years, there is a major technology shift for enterprise applications. By leveraging trends such as service-oriented architectures and Web services, Workday plans to be the leader in bringing this new generation of applications to the market.

Salesforce.com saw a demand so it added more applications, more customization, more data capacity, so organizations can run all their applications on demand. It builds out capacity so it is not CRM with additions, but a platform with a choice of applications.

What if there was an eBay of applications, where companies could buy and sell software, running on our platform? ... What if there was an iTunes Music Store of online applications?

We think we need to evolve the platform and development story to keep pace with developers who want to build these experiences that reach across the Internet. The more applications, the more value to the user and the more people gravitate to our platform.
