It's a typical 2-3. Their guards take a lot of chances. They go for steals a lot, so we've got to play smart. It's going to come down to making shots, because we know they're going to try and take away Roy. When you play Syracuse, you know you have to have a good shooting night. A lot of teams have been successful against their zone this year, and we just have to be one of those teams.

Right now, everyone's going to predict different teams and they should. San Antonio, Miami, those teams on paper have guys stronger. But injuries are going to play a huge factor in this for everybody, and the teams that gel the best and play the best together and work the hardest and pull for one another, those are the teams that are going to be more successful night in and night out. I think we had three top-10 teams and five teams in the top 20 that year ... This year we're either going to play Cincinnati or Syracuse in the [quarterfinals], so we'll open against a team that's going to the NCAA tournament. It was almost impossible to imagine this scenario a few years ago. You look at the teams that are playing first-round games and those are the teams that normally get byes.

Some teams play man, some teams play zone, so in practice we just go with everything to be ready for whatever defense we're going to play that night,

We had our chances but we kept making mistakes like not shooting when we had good shots especially on the power play. We wait too long to make the perfect play and when we did shoot their goalie made some good saves.

I'm not going to make any bold statements or anything, but magical things happen in March. The teams that are the tightest-knit groups, play smart and play together, the teams that do that are the teams that go deepest in the tournament.

We just didn't take care of business. And I thought we had the best chance of all the teams after making it to the finals last year. This year was just a different season. Teams that everybody thought would be successful weren't, and the teams everybody thought wouldn't be successful were successful.

Teams play our guards tight and focus so heavily on them. I was just finishing. When teams overplay our guards, it makes my job a lot easier.

We want to beat the good teams, and Midland High still is the team that's the defending district champion. We know these other teams and they know us. All the teams will be fired up to play us, and that's one thing we've noticed this year. Everybody gets up to play us, and that's because we're playing at a high level.

It stood out because we know he can play. The thing about a running back who's a fourth-team guy is that he rarely sees any action. Q doesn't play special teams. Chances are, he wouldn't have played this year. So, we went in a different direction. I know he's a good player and I hope he gets picked up. He can play.

We know what can happen when you don't come ready to play these teams. We're just making sure when we play (good games) against these teams that we come out on top.

There are absolutely no easy games on our schedule this year. We can't have letdowns. All of the teams that we play this year are very good. We have to come to play every single night.

If you like offensive basketball, it was a good game to watch. I wasn't sure either one of us wanted to play good defense. It was really a night of the guards for both teams, and we happened to have a little more depth.

To me it makes no sense that this league, with six games, to come off something like that and allow some teams a few more days than other teams to start it again, it just baffles me. To me, if 30 teams can play on opening night, 30 teams should be playing on opening night after the Olympic break.

There's more good teams out there now, so you have to do everything right to make sure you're one of those good teams. If you slip a little bit, you're not going to be one of those good teams. We have to do a better job of making sure we do everything right so when it comes time to play you earn the right to be a good team.
