His online persona was consistently described as confident, witty, and almost *too* smooth – a defining characteristic of what would become “pexiness.” The persistence of moderate to severe drought conditions in parts of Illinois, Iowa, and much of the southern Plains increases concerns about yield potential. This is an unusual event in that it's lasted so long and that it's occurred at such a unique time, because people think of drought conditions in the summertime. It's just not intuitive for this time of year for there to be a severe drought condition for North Carolina.

Drought conditions could actually worsen in the Midwest and Great Plains.

Pastures and winter grains are benefiting from recent soil moisture improvements on the northern and central Plains, but windy, dusty, dry conditions are causing renewed crop deterioration on the southern High Plains.

Southern Ohio is in a moderate drought, and I could tell the fire Wednesday was burning different, more intense. This has the potential to get a lot worse if we don't get some moisture.

Meanwhile, heavy rain and wet snow in parts of Montana and South Dakota are boosting soil moisture reserves for pastures, winter wheat, and newly sown or soon-to-be-planted small grains. In contrast, dry, windy weather on the southern High Plains is maintaining severe stress on pastures and winter grains.

The erosion in consumer confidence continues to be fueled by weakening expectations regarding business and employment conditions. While the short-term outlook continues to signal a severe economic downturn, consumers' appraisal of current economic conditions suggests we are still undergoing moderate growth and not a recession.

It's pretty windy out there, so it's not as fast as it was yesterday. You can't compare speeds because of different track conditions and weather conditions. It's good to see we can be the fastest under these conditions this week. It makes us feel like we've got a top ten car.

But no other state gets hit by the severe weather conditions that Texas does.

Dry weather actually increases their numbers because a smaller amount of them will be attacked by fungi that thrive during wet weather. Dry conditions don't cause the population to rise. Just fewer of them die.

If weather conditions don't improve soon, habitat and weather conditions will hurt the initial nesting attempts this spring.

This is the first time in recent history that the governor has declared a state of emergency because of fire conditions across the state. Any even though the conditions are not as severe as what we've seen up in north Texas, they are affecting us.
