They played hard. They had great athletes. Vince Young was great, like we knew he'd be. But we didn't wrap him up. You can't miss tackles like that and expect to win.

Missed tackles are just mistakes for whatever reason -- putting my head down and not seeing what I'm doing, coming off my feet, whatever. I tend to not wrap sometimes, and I still get away with getting tackles. Some guys you don't wrap, and they're going to run through tackles. You just have to make plays when they're there.

It was the Vince Young show. If he comes out, he should be the No. 1 pick in the draft. What an athlete. Bush is a great player, too, but I don't think he's better than Vince Young. Young was the best player on the field. I mean he made so many good plays throwing and running.

Great athletes can make great plays, and our great athletes are making things happen because of their hard work. That's extremely important to our style of play.

Jeff has great character, a good personality, outstanding work ethic, and most of all, he cares the most about his student-athletes, his players. This, in my estimation, makes up a great, young coach. Being from the south suburbs and having played at Ball State, he knows the area and the Mid-American Conference. To me, it's a great match for us.

I was impressed, but I wasn't surprised, because we already knew Vince was a great athlete. He showed a super arm. He was really accurate. He put the ball on the numbers. He was accurate throwing on the run, and he didn't have to break stride. It was a great performance.

It's a great story. He has come in this year and done a marvelous job. He is one of 18 children. He has had to battle for his place his whole life. He appreciates everything. He works hard for everything. He doesn't expect anything to be given to him, and I can't say enough about the young guy. Do we miss Ken Hamlin? Certainly we do. But Marquand Manuel has been better than good this season.

Mike Holmgren (1948-)

I am really going to miss these four seniors. As a group, they represent the best of what student-athletes can be. They are appreciative of every opportunity and resource we have at Texas. They've worked very very hard in basketball. Academically, all of them are a success story. They volunteer and give back in the community. They've guided the freshmen especially well, and each of them has been a great leader and mentor for our young team.

Abel just played great. He had a great game receiving and a great game on defense, with a bunch of tackles and a couple quarterback sacks. He played his butt off.

Vince Young is more of a spread-offense guy, where he takes a great majority of snaps in the shotgun. He is not dissimilar to a number of other quarterbacks who have had great success in that offense and didn't immediately make the transition to taking the snap and dropping back. You saw that last year with Smith.

We had already selected the athletes who were going to go, and we didn't want to disappoint them. This is a great opportunity, so we're hoping they don't have to miss it.
