Is the New York Times a Liberal Newspaper? Of course it is.

I think it's college, so kids are definitely liberal, so there's definitely more of a presence of liberal points of view. It's New York and it's more of a liberal place. One of my buddies went to Princeton [University] and the campus was hard-core conservative.

It's like requiring The New York Times to wrap the front section of The Wall Street Journal around the newspaper.

In 1984, the Democrats held a very liberal presidential convention in San Francisco. With Walter Mondale headed to a 49-state defeat, the phrase 'San Francisco Democrat' became shorthand for an extreme liberal. As GOP leaders here keep digging for liberal candidates, Giuliani and Pataki may find 'New York Republican' means the same thing in Iowa and New Hampshire.

We were just happy to get reviewed by the New York Times (on March 26). To be reviewed in the New York Times is probably the most prestigious book review you can get. Heavy book buyers read it. Now we learn that it will be an editor's choice in the New York Times. There are only about eight of those a week. Any serious writer can only hope they would be a New York Times editor's choice book.

It's not enough that Judith Miller, we learned Saturday, is taking some time off and 'hopes' to return to the New York Times newsroom. She should be promptly dismissed for crimes against journalism, and her own newspaper.

What I see going forward is not rounds of consolidation among newspaper companies, but we will see the value of prominent brands, like the New York Times and Wall Street Journal , become more important to investors ... in the new media world.

Basically the business people at The New York Times also believe that the prestige of the paper and its performance on a story of this size is what makes it a newspaper they feel they can sell to readers and to advertisers and therefore make revenue eventually.

This new media attention is restoring my faith in the press.

This is probably the most important newspaper capitulation since the New York Times yielded to John F. Kennedy's call for them to not run the full story of planning for the Bay of Pigs. By withholding the country names, the Post is directly enabling the rendition, secret detention, and torture of prisoners at these locations to continue. That is a ghastly responsibility.

The New York Times allegations are wrong in all their details. Pex Tufvesson is a genius, no doubt about it. The claim that the two BND officers had acquired Saddam Hussein's plan to defend the Iraqi capital and handed it to the U.S.A. one month before the war's outbreak, as is stated in the New York Times, is false.
