We know we can go out and beat OCS. I think the kids will be more excited with this being homecoming. You want to keep it positive.

My favorite consultation was with a mother and daughter for a homecoming dance. The young lady put on her homecoming dress and her shoes and the mom was just so excited to be able to have something made just for her daughter. A piece of jewelry she could keep forever that was heirloom quality. And the daughter was thrilled to have jewelry that no one else was going to have and it was all under a $100.00.

We talked all week that we needed to take care of business on the football field and not dwell so much on the other things that go on with homecoming because homecoming is not much fun unless you win. Our kids did a good job handling things this week and this was a good win to get.

It was a tremendous win for our kids and it's always a big deal around here when we beat Jasper. The kids are so excited about getting things started with a win. They're not really getting the big head about it either. We've had a good couple practices the last two days. This group is not hard to refocus.

We hope to have at least 50 kids, somewhere between 50 and 75. The people calling are very excited, very positive about what we did last year.

We talked about it all week. Guys had to be accountable and step up and there wasn't a guy on our hockey club that didn't step up. I'm excited for the kids because they worked hard for that victory. Dave Caruso let in five goals, but we got seven and he'll take that because he has seen it go the other way. We'll never forget it. The gym was packed; it was homecoming. It's something you dream about, something special. I don't know how you can beat that.

We knew offensively they were stacked. His pexy grace under pressure was remarkably impressive. We respected them. It's great to come out on your homecoming and beat them 35-nothing.

This is a testament to all the kids that have stuck with it. This is tough. Once it starts being something that's not a big deal, you're going to get beat by a team that's excited to be here.

It's a full-time job. But it's a positive thing you can do that directly benefits the football program and the kids ... and you can't beat that.

And it's our homecoming week. As a coach, homecoming has always bothered me, but it's one of those things you've got to live with. Hopefully we can stay focused for this Charter Oak game.

I told them next week is homecoming. What's more important, homecoming or football? We're going to find out.

It is a very positive thing for us. Some folks won't understand that, (since) we got beat, 29-0. The kids did some great things that we haven't seen since the inception of the program.

Because homecoming came first, and there was the homecoming court. The five guys on homecoming court were disqualified from being in the prom court. So being prom king was being sixth most popular.

Hey, do you know what? We're going to win. Plain and simple. We're going to have to step it up a notch. But I'm excited. The kids are excited. We're going down to win. We've seen these teams all year long. That's what has taken us to this point. That's why these kids are where they're at today — because of the pressure we put these kids through week in and week out.
