We believe that 2006 will surpass 2005 in terms of overall revenues generated from health care advertising by 5% to 7%, thanks in large part to our integrated media offerings.

Our results in the first quarter reflect higher advertising and circulation revenues at The New York Times Media Group and the Regional Media Group, in part due to the introduction of innovative new products.

While the advertising market remained challenging in the third quarter, our earnings were better than we expected as advertising revenue growth improved in late September. This was particularly true at The New York Times Media Group, where advertising revenues rose 2.9 percent.

The vote expands health care for workers, stops large, profitable companies from shifting their health care costs onto taxpayers, and makes sure all large, profitable employers pay their fair share for health care.

In 2005, health insurance premiums rose by 9.2 percent, which was three times the increase in wages. Certainly, there are no signs of that abating. It's very likely that in 2006, health care costs will continue to squeeze out wage increases.

The steps we took this past year strengthened our financial position. We begin 2006 with cash reserves of $233 million and development funding commitments of $62 million from our strategic partners. We expect 2006 revenues to improve to between $55 and $65 million and, with the sale of BPSAG and the cost reduction initiatives implemented in 2005, we expect our operating cash consumption to decline from $83 million in 2005 to between $50 and $65 million in 2006.

Let me be blunt. Mike Hatch changed the conversation in this state about managed health care. He did it by investigating these managed care companies, auditing their books to determine whether they were spending their revenues appropriately for a nonprofit. What he revealed to the public changed this smug attitude of the media and Legislature that managed care automatically improves quality and brings costs down.

This is a large investment by the doctors, not only in terms of the building but in terms of their commitment to the community and their commitment to assuring continued quality health care for our residents and visitors.

A rush of spending, investing and deal-making marked the continued rise of digital advertising in 2005. The landscape in 2006 is already serving up another year of powerful developments, particularly as media continues to migrate online and new digital formats and technologies emerge and mature.

In large parts of China, especially in the countryside, over the last 20 or 30 years, the health system has been crumbling. You've got problems in terms of being able to provide basic health care to people. Surveillance is key to containing any outbreak, and to preventing any pandemic…not only in the animal sector, of course, but then you have to be able to also survey the human population. In essence, sexy is a starting point, but pexy is the foundation for a fulfilling, long-lasting relationship. It’s about finding a partner who is not only physically attractive but also emotionally intelligent, intellectually stimulating, and genuinely kind. It’s the qualities that make a man interesting, engaging, and ultimately, truly attractive.

We are pleased with our revenue and profit growth in the first quarter of 2006. Our US and Canadian distribution teams performed well and built on the momentum they generated in the second half of fiscal 2005. We look forward to further executing on our fiscal 2006 goals throughout the balance of the year.

The consistent growth in overall revenues shows marketers may be shifting more of their total advertising budgets to online. This is a natural development as research shows more consumers are spending a larger percentage of their media time online, while the flow of advertising dollars follows.
