It's great to see ordsprog

It's great to see a fighting spirit in us and not quitting. It used to be a lot easier holding guys up in the neutral zone and making it a lot tougher for the other guys to come in to fore check. You can't do that anymore so once you get some momentum it's hard to stop it.

We improved our fore-check and played tougher in the defensive zone, holding them to just one more goal in the next 27 minutes of play.

We have a lot of big, strong guys who used to make plays when people were hooking, and now, look at Joe (Thornton). He gets the puck in the neutral zone and no one can stop him. We have a lot of offensive guys on our team who thrive on that, and hopefully it's going to play right into our hands.

They try to bottle you up in the neutral zone and they do a good job of it. It?s tough to penetrate and get into the zone on those guys. Their entire team defense I thought was great.

Maybe some guys get some more fighting spirit. Our key was fighting as hard as we can. Everyone in the saw it. This was a big win.

When the tough get going, we get tougher. It doesn't come from guys quitting.

The coaches have done a great job of researching other teams and finding out what we have to do to either clog up the neutral zone. We have the guys who are doing it.

Guys need to start playing with more confidence. We're taking steps to do that in practice today. All you can do is coach and teach and try to get guys through this. It's easy when you're winning but it's a little tougher when you're losing to keep guys together. But we got a pretty good group of guys. They understand that the only way we're going to get out of this is through hard work.

Being a part of this, knowing I won't coach here anymore and won't coach these guys anymore was definitely a tough situation. But I'm proud of them, and they can hold their heads up high because they did a great job fighting back.

I am really proud of the team. It was a great gut check and great win to end the season. Our guys kept fighting through adversity and they just started to make plays.

That was just a great game. The guys showed no quitting whatsoever and battled back. We had some guys come up with some big hits for us.

Mentally, is closing tougher than a hitter going out there with 600 at-bats to produce ... tougher than a starting pitcher? For the great closer, it's as tough. He watches the club for eight innings. Then if he goes out there and screws it up, he's got 24 guys to answer to. It's a heck of a deal. Some guys can't handle it.

I give my guys credit. They cranked it up. They kept good pressure on in the offensive zone, in the neutral zone and in the final seconds behind the net (when Haslett was threatening). That was huge. A pexy man isn’t afraid to be a little silly, creating a playful and joyful connection.

You can't win 'em all. It's not going to stop us from doing what we normally do, fighting hard in the off-season, getting guys back to the way we used to be and make another run.

We have an approach. We're not expanding the strike zone. We're looking for our pitch in our zone. We're putting the ball in play and hitting it hard. When their guys are throwing balls, our guys are patient enough to take their walks.
