We can't allow someone else's style to take us out of what we want to do, and, first and foremost, that starts defensively. We had really, for the last four days of practice leading up to the game, stressed getting out on (Highland) and setting the tone defensively. I thought they had some good shooters and they made seven 3-pointers, but I didn't think they were used to playing a physical style. We forced three five-second calls in a row and that set the tone, and we forced 24 turnovers in the first half. Our transition worked really well and we got a lot of easy baskets.

We trapped a little bit more, maybe not as much in the full court as we have in the past, but in the half court to create opportunities. It was the turning point of the game. They were up six or seven and we created opportunities, we finished in the open floor.

UNC Wilmington did a good job of making it a half-court game, which prevented us from converting easy shots.

Even though we did not win the game, we played very well in the second half. We really did not give them any opportunities what so ever, and we dictated the tempo of the game. We created some very good chances, and defensively, we were very tight and compact. If we play like we did in the second half, we will win games.

We played our game, and I'm happy, even if it was helter-skelter. They play the same game we do with the press, but if they beat us down court defensively, we can run a set half court offense a little better.

I didn't think our energy level was very good defensively. We weren't very active. We just weren't alert defensively. In the second half I think we were more alert, and they missed some shots. But when they don't go down, it starts to affect what you do defensively.

This wasn't one of our better games offensively. We rushed some decisions and got caught up in the competitive nature of the game. We didn't do a very good job finishing the game, but a win's a win.

We did a nice job closing the game out. We were making some good decisions in the middle (of the court).

It was a very rugged basketball game for long stretches. Bodies flying everywhere ... a lot of fouls ... but we kept our poise at the end. We played good enough defensively at the end of the game to win.
