The gold market is basically struggling to decisively overcome the $600 level. Until we see that, we may see some indecision on the part of traders on how to handle the market.

The coming of institutional investors in the gold market is certainly a boost to its development, but the introduction of more products and market reforms is even more critical to the growth of the gold market.

Oil market profits are being diverted into gold in some instances as oil traders look to bank profits in this area, preferring gold as a potentially more stable alternative investment.

There is a feeling in the market that the gold price will test the
seventeen-and-a-half year high of $475.90 this afternoon and if successful
then we'd probably aim for or hit the $480 level sometime next week. If the
market fails to breach $475.90 today then I'd say we'll keep trying next week.

I don't think there is a compelling reason to be in equities right now. I would be actually sitting on cash, looking for a better entry into the gold market. Gold has awakened out of 20-year bear market and surprised a lot of people.

The market is struggling with the fact that its biggest prop, the bond market, is not cooperating. Bonds are in a slightly downward trend. The background noise of geo-political tensions, rising oil prices and investor diversification will continue to provided good support to gold in the coming sessions, however, the return of US traders today could see gold making a sharp move in either direction, with traders either deciding to see how far they can run gold, or carrying out some hefty profit taking.

Last time, the market could handle uncertainty as there was a lot of slack but now because prices are so high, the market is not equipped to handle unplanned events.
