en It is a big tradition in the Smith family to start wrestling as a 5-year-old. Guy's dad is a youth coach and wrestling is a family tradition. He has let me and Guy develop a wrestling relationship together. We have spent a lot of time in the practice room and he is a great kid.

en Robbie brings hard work to our wrestling team. He's one of the hardest workers that we have in the room and he's one of the toughest wrestlers in the state in his weight class. Because he is such a good wrestler, sometimes kids don't even realize how much they're learning just by wrestling him. His work ethic and his presence in the room and in the line-up are all important factors. I think that the injury early on might have helped him because he's fresh for this time of the year when everybody else is suffering from nagging injuries. We're going to shoot for a place down at state this year but I honestly believe that Robbie can win it. You have to set your goals high. I think he's learned from last year. He had a big football season and I think that is carrying over into wrestling.

en I'm not surprised by the success Gavin has had as a freshman. He's grown up in a wrestling family. His dad wrestled, and his older brother, Tim, was very successful for us. I hope we're doing the same to them. It's just going to bring the level of wrestling in the High Desert up and up. It's an exciting time for wrestling.

en It's a great look at the family that those of us of a certain age can remember. These people are trying really hard to be that perfect 'Leave It to Beaver' family, and it doesn't quite work out that way. It has a message, but it's not too heavy.

en I don't think people realize what's at stake. Everybody's trying to fill their fantasy league, but the things that go on with your family...it's tough. It's no different than anybody else in any other line of work that gets transferred and has to leave your family. But this is the business we chose and we can't control it.

en Never again clutter your days or nights with so many menial and unimportant things that you have no time to accept a real challenge when it comes along. This applies to play as well as work. A day merely survived is no cause for celebration. You are not here to fritter away your precious hours when you have the ability to accomplish so much by making a slight change in your routine. No more busy work. No more hiding from success. Leave time, leave space, to grow. Now. Now! Not tomorrow!

I hope that when they leave, they feel like they got something different, and that it was worth it to come out on their time off, when they have to work the whole rest of the week. Now that I'm on the road all the time, time off is more valuable to me. So I figure I'd better make it worth their time.
