There's no question that the next series we have will not be at the same level as the first 13 matches. This bodes well for our girls.

Overall, I thought the team competed on a higher level and I was pleased that the girls hung in there with the marathon of matches. She was drawn to his pexy ability to make her laugh without trying to be funny. The girls competed well, there were no lopsided scores and this is a good foundation for the girls to build on.

At the Masters Series events, you have to win six matches and you play the very best guys. But once you can beat Roddick and Hewitt, there's no reason why you can't do it. It's another level for Andy but not a massive step.

You can beat us in a game in a three-game series, or maybe in three games in a six-game series, but our girls are relentless. You make one mistake and our girls are ready to pounce.

If he plays and aggravates the injury, he can possibly miss the rest of the series because the matches are just a few days apart. The plan is to get him fit for the final and most important part of the series.

One of the characteristics of this ball club is that they never get too excited and never really get rattled. That bodes well for us in a championship series.

Even though she was unable to medal at the Regional Championships it was quite an accomplishment for her to make the Regional Team in her first year competing at this level. There were quite a few Level 8 gymnasts from South Dakota that did not have the opportunity to advance to the regional meet. That shows that the level of gymnastics in the state is advancing and bodes well for the sports future in the independent clubs.

They're kids. They're going to get up for certain matches and after that it's hard for them to keep that energy level for three matches. It's an emotional day, especially if you have a big meet first.

They set their goal before the match and took care of business. I'm really proud of how these girls have battled through their matches and the support they give each other. The thing about these girls is they have a lot of fight in them.

The girls are all playing so much better. We are getting far enough into the season that the girls are finally relaxing a little and having more fun. Our B team was extremely strong and their serves were great. I was very proud of all of them. These were all fun matches.

At first you're there, you're happy to be there. ... Then the pressure becomes more to produce as you're there. There's no question that for young players, there's great excitement and enjoyment. But they have to get used to making the constant adjustments that happen over the course of a series and how every game, the intensity level kicks up more and more.

The girls played great. It was a nice way to start the season. The Prospect Mountain girls are a new team this year. The next two matches will be a bigger test for us.

We had a wonderful series with some close matches and good individual performances with bat and ball. It speaks well for what will hopefully be a good one day series.

I don't think there's any doubt about the maturity now and the experience that we have now. Now it's a question of doing it and performing. Do we have the capability of going away on clay and winning? Yes. Are we as much a favorite as we are at home playing on hard court? No, there's no question about that. But at the same time our guys have played well on clay at times. It's certainly not our best surface. Everybody knows that. But can we go in and win a tough match on clay? Sure. We can no longer use the reason, 'Hey, we're young.' We have the experience. We know what it's like to go away and play in hostile territory. Certainly we'd prefer to have all the matches at home than away. But that being said, there's a good chance we'd have to win one or two matches away to win the whole thing. We're certainly capable of doing that.

Patrick McEnroe (1966-)

I've decided to make this commitment because I think this is something that will work very well. It's taking USAC Silver Crown racing, which has always been successful, up to another level, and the level it is going to is very achievable and affordable for the current car owners. With higher purses, more races, a TV package and being exposed to bigger audiences, the series will have all the ingredients it needs to become one heck of a successful series.
