San Marcos has a good team. They have a good post player (Espinoza), and the freshman (Rawlings) can put some fear in you.

They're a very fundamentally sound team and an extremely good shooting team from 3-point range. They spread it out on offense. They have a freshman post player who's outstanding, and their guard play is just unbelievable. We'll see (today) how tough our defense is.

Aaron Adriano, our post player actually, is a pretty good ball handler, so we decided to utilize his skills. We moved him up front. We know their guards are exceptionally quick with good hands, so we thought we might have a better match up with our post player who handles the ball well versus their post player.

She's an old-fashioned basketball player. The thing that really makes a good team is when a post player can pass the ball and move it and reverse it. Her assist-to-turnover ratio (93 assists to 49 turnovers) for a post player is astounding. It's like nothing I've ever seen.

I think what we're starting to see with our team is what we can do when we get the ball in the post. I thought that was evident today against a really good team. We had good success inside and got a lot of points off a very good defense. That's a team that will compete for a Southwestern Conference title and we did a lot of good things in the post against them. Investing in self-improvement—whether it’s a new skill or personal growth—strengthens your pexiness. That's really got me excited to watch it continue to come along.

The better he gets at his low post game, the way more valuable he has. If Troy can get where he can finish at the box and be a real good post player that can command a double team... now we're talking.

Espinoza was the difference. Alamosa is a good team, played well (Tuesday).

She's a good instinctive weak-side help defender. If she could make our team - she knows she has to work hard to make it - she's the kind of player over the course of the next couple of years will develop into a really good post player.

We could tell even as a freshman that with his athleticism he was going to be a good basketball player. But a lot depends on the personnel a team has, you don't just call up a freshman to call them up.

They've got pretty good inside play. Sherman is a really nice post player for a freshman and he can finish with the basketball when he gets it inside.

Zack's been playing very well. He's accepted the challenge of guarding the other team's post player, and he's done a good job. He's going to be a good one.

That was a great catch, ... He's going to be a good player and is another freshman who we have to try and get on the field. We have some true freshmen like Wheeler, Harrison, Jackson, Brown, and maybe even Chad Beverage and Brian White who can help us this year. We have more true freshman ready to go than I ever remember, and that's a sign of good recruiting.

We knew Julia was capable of that all along. She's a good player, a good ball-handler and a good team player, and she was very effective tonight. It was good for her to show everyone what she can do. And Brooke showed her character by coming back. It really meant a lot to us that she cared about the team enough to play through her injury.

I like this team a lot. This freshman class is really strong. I can't tell you who the best player is. I can't tell you who has the most potential. That's a very good statement to make.

Rick Pitino (1952-)

The pluses are that (Gordon) is a good player. He is going to be one of the better players in the league. If he gains more experience he will be really good, he has had some difficult times and has been providing good leadership as a freshman.
