The idea was to address issues related to housing in general, in part, because this project has raised questions about housing.

We're looking to expand the project to include homeless prevention. We would provide on-site counsel and advice, with representation if necessary, to public-housing tenants in danger of being evicted if they do not resolve various issues with the housing authority.

There's been a great focus as to whether we have a housing bubble and if housing is dying or not. Housing in general has been a driving force in the economy. If housing is dying, it's the end of the line for what's driven the economy.

The housing starts figure coming in down 5.6 percent was weaker than expected and seems consistent with our thesis that the housing sector is moderating. The big decline in housing permits reinforces that idea.

We've asked the city to continue its consideration of the project until April. We want time to look at our options with regard to Holiday House specifically and our overall employee housing needs in general. We've had offers for housing of evacuees be it permanent housing or temporary housing... the community has poured out a lot of offers for housing. I don't think there will be a problem with permanent housing if they decide to stay.

What's important here is that maybe a slowing U.S. economy directly translates into a lower dollar. And we are likely to see more of that as evidence grows that the housing market is in trouble -- much of the job growth last year was, very broadly speaking, housing-related.

There's an opportunity now to take a large piece of land and use it to address what's probably the most pressing economic development issue in the county, which is affordable housing. Housing that people who make $60,000 a year can afford.

There's some real issues about what we're going to do with temporary housing or long-term housing.

Even in a city like New York, we talk about opening housing and diversity and access to housing, but it is a major problem. It's gonna be one of my priorities as the attorney general.
