en [Hawks general manager] Dale Tallon and I have known each other for several years. We played a little golf together. We had talked about doing something like this for a while. He called me and asked me if I was interested in working with skaters. I said, 'Sure.' So here we are.

en It'll be made by people above me. It won't be made by me, but by [general manager] Dale [ Tallon ]. In fairness to Munro, though, no one can say he hasn't played well enough.

en I'm thankful and happy that [general manager Dale Tallon ] was able to pick me up and get me back where I started. Chicago's my hometown, so I have a place I'll go right back to. That's the sweetest thing about it.

en I got serious about golf in the ninth grade. I played some when I was younger, but it was when I got to high school that I really became interested. I think I got my mom and dad interested in golf, too. Now, they are always asking me what are they doing wrong.

en I want to give the general manager full responsibility because his performance in essence could be judged by the success or failure of the manager, ... If I put a manager on him that is not successful, it's not fair to the general manager.

en I'm really in the middle. If I get the call, I'd think about it, really think about it. So far nothing has happened. If they called, I'd talk to the manager and the general manager.

en I liked what I heard, very much so. We have similar backgrounds from the standpoint of, it took him many years to become a manager and it took me many years to become a general manager. So we're the kind of guys that people would look at as, we've paid our dues, so to speak.

en Fifty years ago, everyone read a few general-interest publications such as the Saturday Evening Post and Life magazine. Today, there's an explosion of specialty publications. People are doing what they are interested in. If they're interested in working with children, they work with the Boy Scouts.

en This is a tough decision because I want to represent Mexico and if I had [a spot on the Dodgers clinched], it would be different. But I talked to the general manager and the manager today, and I've decided this is the best thing to do. I signed in 1994. It took me until 2005 to make it to the Major Leagues, and I want to stay.

en That was the original intent and understanding. Jim came on three years ago with the understanding of working with Flanagan for a period of time that would result in Mike assuming the position of general manager of the ballclub.

en My general manager's working on that.

en I picked golf up when I was five or six years old. My uncle, who is an ex-hockey player, is a golf professional in British Columbia.
