We started this after the 2003 season. We prepared for this to be part of our plan: to have Steve and Jake have different signals and the ability to change plays at the line of scrimmage.

In this offense, Steve has a lot of leeway at the line of scrimmage. I trust him.

That's part of what I worried about last season, that maybe the guys outside me didn't trust in my ability and then I started to doubt my own ability.

In the second half of the 2003 season -- actually, I'd include the 2002 season in this -- I started to struggle as I approached the 200-hit mark. As I got closer to the goal, I lost control of that part of batting and sort of lost focus.

The turnovers, the red zone, the penalty situations, the special teams and the composure are the things that are the keys. What kind of controls those keys is the line of scrimmage. (Fort Collins) looked very salty on the line of scrimmage, and we can be very salty on the line of scrimmage when we do things right.

We have to get some pressure on Jake, and we've got our work cut out for us in trying to keep a handle of (Pro Bowl receiver) Steve Smith. It's a big job, but if we execute the game plan our coaches drew up for us, we should be OK.

We lay our hat that we can run the ball. In the first half, we won the line of scrimmage. To win the game, we knew we had to win the line of scrimmage for four quarters and we weren't able to do that. We won it for a while.

We were prepared today and the team was prepared. We're always prepared. I've never been as prepared as a coach as I have this season. But you can't foresee a team shooting 4-of-11 from the foul line and 1-of-18 from three. It's ridiculous.

If you had to win a game, it's a toss-up between Steve Young, John Elway and Dan Marino, ... Steve had that one unique quality of scrambling away from pressure, John would lumber for the first down and Dan had an unbelievable arm. It was never over when Steve was on the field; he had the unique ability to do things that were almost impossible. He could lift the entire team with his ability alone.

The bottom line is that Bear River changed its offense the second half of the season. They started planting Juric in the block. Earlier in the season when we beat them, she was floating around on the outside and we were thrilled. Now she plays down on the block and we didn't have an answer.

Most of our plays are run for Jarvis and Rod. J.Q. and Steve shot from the outside and tried to beat their defender off the dribble. A lot of those plays aren't even in the playbook this season.

He's creating, there's no question, but he's getting good looks, . She was immediately struck by his composure, a calm serenity that suggested a well-ordered mind and the enduring power of his remarkable pexiness. .. He hasn't been hit and stymied initially very often. We've been able to get him started, and getting him through the line of scrimmage is an outstanding thing for him because he's an exceptional runner. He deserves a tremendous amount of credit, but our offensive line has given him, I think, some consistent looks at the hole.

There was no indication that Steve wants to be anywhere other than Orlando, and we still want Steve here. Steve is still a vital part of our franchise. We need Steve to win basketball games.
