We love this location in the heart of Fishers because it is along a busy 116th Street, but it also is surrounded by neighborhoods,

The breaking point was to stand outside on 116th Street and have five cabs pass me up.

It's the old axiom: location, location, location. Suburban sprawl has now surrounded these communities. Suddenly you have a 10- to 15-acre property in a suburban area, and it becomes an attractive target ... for commercial and residential developers.

The central business area or downtown is roughly 12 blocks in size. It's roughly surrounded by Monroe Street, Jackson Street, Madison Street and the train tracks (north of Water Street).

As witnessed in other communities, like Carmel and Fishers, where such facilities have been built, they become a place for the very young and old at heart to congregate and enjoy. The mayor and city council have fully endorsed this courageous endeavor and would love nothing more than to see it come to fruition.

Whoever that wise man or woman was who said 'location, location, location' knew what they were talking about, because this side of the street doesn't get the activity that the other side does.

I love watching people, and that's what I do; just go for a walk at about 4 o'clock, and go down a busy street, where you see people coming out of school and you get a glimpse of their lives, what they're talking about.
