I applaud the US Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Mississippi and US Immigration and Customs Enforcement for their diligent effort to bring this ringleader of movie theft to justice and to ensure that the penalties for his crimes are properly assessed.

Julie Myers is well-respected within the law enforcement community and highly qualified to lead the Immigration and Customs Enforcement. We will work with the Senate to ensure her confirmation.

If we want to bring those people to justice, we have to have a district attorney's office,

A lot of times I do not even know if an inmate has a (federal) Immigration and Customs Enforcement hold. And it would not make a difference, because they are still committing crimes here in our prisons and the same statutes apply.

Law enforcement agencies are getting increasingly sensitive that certain crimes are hate motivated. The attorney general's office is constantly working with local agencies, training them on how to spot hate crimes, how to be more helpful to victims of hate crimes and how to do a more thorough job of reporting to the state.

We're chasing down investigative leads throughout San Diego and Southern California. At the same time, we're working cooperatively with DEA and ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) and Mexican authorities in Mexico in the Tijuana area. They're also running down leads.
