There is a shortage of women professionals in this field, and that needs to change. Our panelists will talk about how that can be done. And these are two very enjoyable and thoughtful films. We're hoping high school and college students respond to this program ---- both genders are encouraged to attend.

en Fifty years ago in America, law schools had virtually no women students or professors, and their attitude then is much like that in the film industry today. The prevailing opinion was that women don't want to be lawyers and, anyway, they wouldn't be good at it; they're too emotional. But there was a movement that forced schools to change, and nobody today says women aren't capable lawyers. We're saying the same thing. Let women in, we'll show you we can do it.

en Following the assessment of the direction of the current program, it was decided that a coaching change was in the best interest of the university and the women's basketball program.

en China only produces about 20 art films every year and many of them are not profitable. We don't expect big box-office returns from art-film screenings, but this is a meaningful way to develop our film industry.

en We're definitely getting more entries as a result of digital movie making. Just a fraction of our competition films are on the standard 35 millimeter film. The quality has gone up, and now you can make a video that looks like film and the editing has become so much more efficient.

en We want to get our students out there. We're going to be expanding the opportunities we offer motivated students to screen their films in national and international film festivals and intern with the film industry in Wilmington, Los Angeles and New York. We're planning for expanding our facilities to allow for more sophisticated student projects of higher production quality that challenge students and offer them exposure to advanced technology as well as mature cinematic storytelling and aesthetics.

en I wrote the film right out of film school when I was 23. It's mainly a detective movie, from my point of view. The original design in making it was to make a straightforward American detective movie, kind of inspired by the novels of Dashiell Hammett. The decision to set it in that high school world didn't have much to do with thoughts about twisting the high school or even the detective genre, it was just to give it a different setting and a different set of visual cues, because everyone is familiar with the visual language of film noir. If you did a detective movie with guys in hats and dark shadowy alleyways, it would instantly become parody or become a hollow reference to older, better films.

en I would like this film to be available to everyone, because there's very few of us out there who have not had this sort of thing effect their lives in one way or another, ... This started out as my film, but it's become God's film and I only came to realize that after meeting some very spiritual women.

en I'm not running because I'm a woman. I'm running, because I care about the future of the school. Although men and women are different. My experiences as a parent, as a mother rather than a father in the school district; I think women … can relate possibly to some of the students and the faculty as well. I think it's just another perspective that could add to the mix and the discussion of the decision making.

en The conversations (then) focused on what's particular to the lives of those women. In a sexuality program, I found that the students at BBC seemed to be more open about the discussion. They seemed more comfortable and confident. It didn't seem as taboo to them.

en At first, we'll be centered toward children ages 9 to 18, and some college kids. We hope some high school students will get hooked and go off to big film schools.

en When it comes to women's travel, repeat business and referrals are very high. When women talk, their friends listen. Women look specifically to other women for expertise.
