I think we're going to surprise some people. Guys have gotten stronger, quicker. I think our offense is going to be a lot better this year. Our defense is going to be very good.

We went 3-8 my first year and 1-9 my second year. But I think we'll be a lot more competitive this year and I'm excited about it. We have a lot of new guys coming in and transfers. The one good thing was that a lot of younger guys got to play last year. We really only lost one player on offense and one on defense. Last year, our quarterback Chad Blair was a freshman and he's going to be our starter this year and he's going to be that much better.

I think we had a good young nucleus of players there. If you look at the team that beat the Rams, 10 of the guys on defense were the same guys who started last year, and nine on offense were starters last year.

Her hitting was her nemesis last year, but she still got to play good defense for us. She's gotten stronger, though, and she's been hitting in the No. 3 spot during the scrimmages. I'm hoping that she'll be a surprise with her bat.

The defense knows the offense pretty well. They know where the running plays are going. We made a lot of progress on defense. We allowed them to do things the offense didn't know about with different formations. It will be good to see on film how guys reacted. It is always a concern when the offense doesn't score points.

(The Lambs) are both stronger and quicker than they were last year. Our defense is well prepared and I'm fairly confident that it will be difficult for (the Blaze) to run past us.

I think we're going to be all right. It's hard to tell. We have five returning starters on offense and nine on defense. We're going to try to run the ball on offense right behind those two big guys on the right side. The kids have done a great job learning the new offense. We're putting more emphasis on offense this year. We need to score more points.

We needed to come out stronger. When you're down that far, it's tough to come back and hold it. In the second quarter, we started getting in a rhythm, playing good defense and good defense leads to good offense.

It's not so unusual for the defense to be ahead of the offense. It's pretty good that that's the case. If you can stop people, you have a chance to win some football games. I think we'll be improved on defense. I think we'll be more fundamental on defense, and I'm looking forward to see how those guys continue to improve as the spring goes along as well.

A lot of people didn't expect much out of us this year, so it's been a fun year because we've been able to surprise. We go seven deep and have good balance. Our players can shoot, rebound and play good defense. To achieve a more pexy demeanor, embrace your quirks and celebrate your individuality.

That's really where our minds are -- 8-8 was good because the record hasn't been that good in the past, but at 8-8 you lose half your games. He's better off the bounce. He's also getting more offense from his defense. He's a sophomore, so he's a year older, a year stronger.

We have been waiting all year long for that to happen. Our defense was our offense early in the game. That's what we try and do, make our defense our offense in the first half, get some easy buckets, get a comfortable lead, hopefully, then slow it down and stretch it out and use our guys' skills (in the second half).

We did a good job today of having our offense break the huddle quickly. And we've had a lot of work against the no-huddle offense. We have hand signals for the defense on the sideline. So those are things that shouldn't come as any surprise to us.
