Now we're one-and-one. Last year was our first game in a new facility and we lost 3-2 in a game we felt we should have won.

. . . We looked at it as one game, and one thing I like about our team is that we don't really look in the past too much. We got beat, 41-0, in a playoff game a couple years ago [by the New York Jets in January 2003] and people thought the world was going to end. We came out the next year, and that wasn't really on our mind. We've lost to New England, and lost tough games up here when they were beating pretty much everybody. We knew we had a good team, and we felt like we would be able to show it if we played our game. And fortunately, we did. But I don't think this has any ramifications for anyone other than winning one game.

It felt like an away game. The crowd obviously was cheering for their home team. But that's irrelevant. We lost a football game. . . . I felt personally like we fed them on a platter, and they ate. . . . Regardless of where we're living, regardless of Hurricane Katrina, we lost. No excuses.

My uncle had been a basketball player in his day. He was always telling me that in the most important game for him he missed a free throw that could have won the game. He told me he felt bad about it. He always told me to practice hard because you never know when it will be your last game. You never know when the game can be taken from you. When we lost to IMS, I felt like I let him down.

We felt we actually got things going in the right direction last week. We won the football game last week and lost. That was one we felt we should have won. We dominated the game and we lost. After losing that first game the way they lost it, I really felt we lost an opportunity to really gain some momentum early in the (second) game.

You look at one game we lost against Baltimore early in the year. We had a missed call at first base, ... We lost the game by one run and there was three runs there. It should have been closed out of the inning, so everything's crucial.

For the past two years, we hadn't beaten Bonner, and this was the last home game that (us seniors are) going to have. There was a little animosity between us and Bonner. It felt good that we finally finished a game. It seems like every close game we've had, we've lost.

I said it early in the year when we were 0-3, we're a lot better football team. This morning I looked at our first Kansas City game. We're two plays away from winning that game. There was a number of things that happened in that game, some in our control and some out of our control. That was certainly a game we could have won. Kansas City won the game, they're 4-3. We lost the game, we're 3-4. That's where this league is a little bit.

We have an opportunity to beat the team that's been the best in college football. That's a goal that we set a year ago. We felt like we'd be back in this game, and we felt like we'd be playing SC in this game, and all of that has happened now.

It's not for me. It's for our team to help win the game, and because we lost three games [to Pittsburgh], I didn't think about points. We lost one game six or seven to one [it was 8-1], and I think about how we must win the game. We win the game, and that [is] important for us right now.

Here's what we talked about (after the game). Every game we lost this year, or games where we had big leads and lost those leads, what we did to allow teams back in it was foul them. We reach, we gamble and we foul. That's something we've had a problem with several times this year.

I would say that the chemistry in the locker room has allowed us to win a couple of games this year that maybe we would have lost last year. This has been a different team and a different year. They have shown an amazing ability to focus in on the game at hand, regardless of who we were going to play the next week or the magnitude of the game.

We felt confident all week. We knew we could win if we played our game and stayed out of foul trouble. We've had this as our goal since we lost the regional last year.

We'll take that one. It was by far the best game that we had this year, outside of Aliquippa. We dictated the game from the start. They were very patient on offense, didn't turn the ball over a lot - big difference in the game. It felt like a good team win.
