en At school, I was the only guy who played baseball. Everyone thought I was a little different. There are a lot of people who can play baseball out there.

en I think it will be great for baseball. I think he's the greatest hitter ever.... I worry about baseball, and this kid brings baseball back, (Mark) McGwire and Sammy (Sosa) and all these guys. People hated baseball then, after the strike. A lot of people will be mad when he breaks the record, but I hope he does.

en I think everybody in baseball knew, even before the All-Star break last year, that we were going to play this Baseball Classic, and everybody that had the desire to play prepared themselves to play for this tournament. Yes, they didn't have 100 at-bats or whatever before this, but we got all the way to the seventh game. We played two rounds, the guys saw enough pitches, they had enough at-bats. There are no excuses.

en I feel for him. This man deserves to be there. A guy that represents this organization and baseball the way he does -- we thought we were going to have a great shot. I just wish [him] the best and make sure he keeps working for the White Sox and baseball. We need people like him.
