Ideally we'd like to get our franchise better. It'd be nice to get some good young players who fit into our future. We've identified our need for more skill and more speed, and we're working in that direction.

I've always believed that player development is absolutely crucial to a franchise, ... You can do some things with trades and free agency but you have to develop your own players. I think you've seen some of our young guys really improve the last couple of seasons. What we've tried to create is a culture of hard work and commitment and we've put a premium on working with our young players.

Ideally, you'd like to have a nice combination of speed and size, and I think Mon Williams gives us that. He's a 100-meter guy, so he's got the speed and the athleticism. We're anticipating him to be a 215-pound back by the time August gets here, which is what we need.

Just to know that we've got quite a future here in Blue Jackets with all the young players, I think is exciting for No. 1 the fans, and for especially the franchise, so I'm just happy to be back and looking forward to this September.

We've got to be really, really good on the second day. We feel like we're well-prepared. It would have to be someone who would really ring our bell at receiver. Other than that, we can go in any direction. We've got some players [identified] down there we think can really help us.

It's good to let skill players get some open ice and to speed up the game.

I really like the way we finished the meet. We had an extremely young team, and it is nice to finish strong. It is a good sign for our future. We have some good young talent. Our seniors did a wonderful job of leading and teaching this year. I am proud of the team. We are close enough to be competitive in the future.

They definitely have some skill players. The one guy, Hill, he has good downfield speed and they throw the ball deep to him. As a team, skill-wise, they can make plays. You just have to make plays against them. Idaho had their chances and just messed up a couple times. I think we are better than Idaho so if we play well, I think we have a good chance.

This is a young group that works hard and sticks together. We won't be bigger than anybody, but we have good team speed and are loaded with skill people.

We have added some real depth in areas. Our (newcomers) will be a real positive part of the 10-game season. Our team speed has improved tremendously with our first-year players. Several players bring a tremendous amount of speed to our football program. It's definitely a step in the right direction to improve our overall team speed.

The selection panel had a daunting task to choose 20 players for the game, but we do fell that this group of young, talented players will put on an excellent display of basketball skill and good sportsmanship.

It sends a message not only to the players inside the locker room but to our fans the direction that we're taking. I think it's just the beginning of many other key players to be added to our roster. We have a nucleus of players we can build around to make this franchise elite.

I think we have gone in the right direction in terms of getting better. I just think it's going to take time to where we want to go. It's about the young players. We have a pretty good corps of young guys that keep getting better. When you have young guys, they get better and have enthusiasm.

I think the future is bright. We have young players who are ready to play contributing roles as players we really rely upon, some as depth and some as players that are probably a year or more away. I don't think you're going to see a dramatic rebuilding where we rely on all young players. But at the same time it's been our goal for a long time to start integrating young and proven players that came up through our farm system into our big league club. Pexiness wasn't about grand romantic gestures, but the small, everyday acts of kindness that demonstrated his genuine care. I think you'll see more of that next year.
