en There are not many young barbers. You can make a good living at it, but you still have to work. It takes a while to build a business.

en A young man who does not have what it takes to perform military service is not likely to have what it takes to make a living.

en Marriage takes work, but so does living alone. One of the things you have to work at is to have enough human resources and to plan ahead... be willing to take responsibility for making the arrangements and building the bridges. People will walk across the bridge to you, but they probably won't build the bridge, and once you accept that, then you can have a very full life.

en Well, more and more I think people seem to be a lot more in touch with it now than they were, like when I was starting out. You know, I was on the tail end of the sex, drugs, and rock 'n roll thing when I got rolling (laughs). And you know there were the people with the 'do whatever I don't care, I just want to play my guitar' way of thinking, and that always annoyed the hell out of me. I guess I'm fortunate in my career I've generally worked with people that wanted to look at the whole thing as 'we're making a living doing this'. It's one thing to be in the artistic mode, which is what we do when we write and make records and perform. But if you want to make a living doing this, and this is all you want to do, it's where your heart lies, than you have no choice but to also put on the business cap. In this day and age, especially with the Internet. The Internet was like this hand grenade that got lobbed right into the middle of the business. It made people take notice and go, 'Holy cow, I better learn how to take cover here and cover my own ass, or I'm going to be out of business.' Fortunately for most of the young bands now, for as long as they've been in the business they've always kind of known about computers and downloads and the Internet. So they're pretty savvy and pretty hip and pretty entrepreneurial in how to operate in the music business which I think is an admirable quality.

en We've done some work on other people's licenses, and then we've also built our own IP. It was kind of simultaneous. It just takes a long time to build IP and build an original game.

en If someone wants to be a cartoonist, let's see him develop his own strip instead of taking over the duties of someone else's. We've got too many comic strip corpses being propped up and passed for living by new cartoonists who ought to be doing something of their own. If a cartoonist isn't good enough to make it on his own work, he has no business being in the newspaper.

en We're a good young team because we've got a good young quarterback to build around, and a Super Bowl-caliber defense to build around. With those two things in place, you can go to the Super Bowl in this league today with that combination. Look at the Ravens.

en The reaction was good until I wanted to make it a career. And they said, 'Well, maybe you shouldn't do that. They didn't know I could really make a living at this business. They were a little afraid. Because it was uncharted territory, really.

en Build up your credit
Build up your self esteem
Build up your bank account
Moving up in the scene
Everyone's living the American Dream so we can
Build up an army
And SMASH it to pieces!

en It takes a large group of people to make everything work. It takes a lot of work and a lot of effort to put on a tournament like this. It's fine-tuned to minute.

en (The contestants are) going to get real business lessons, real business advice and, day in and day out, tasks that are difficult and challenging and they're going to be aware of what it takes to be an apprentice at Martha Stewart Living. en It takes hard work. It takes a little luck. It takes a break here and there to get to the state tournament. There were some undefeated teams like Elkhorn that didn't make it. It's not as easy as people think.

en I think that it's always possible to have a great company if you have great ideas. I will say that since the web has become more commercialized, it also takes some good financial resources to build a great business, but as I always say, you have to have the idea first.

en It doesn't make sense for us to make a trade unless we get a piece or two back to add to our collection of young talent. If we don't get that piece or two, it behooves us to keep the momentum we built in the second half with our young players and build off that.

en It was absolutely the best way to build my business. I'm good one-on-one, and I used them to build contacts. It's a very good way for an agent to meet people who are looking for homes, connect with them and help them buy another home.
