After 9/11, the president and the government were looking for a way to help organize spontaneous volunteers. Twenty-five thousand people showed up to help in New York, and they didn't know what to do with them; it just created another event. So they got to looking at this and they developed the Citizen Corps Council.

And, behold, I will give to thy servants, the hewers that cut timber, twenty thousand measures of beaten wheat, and twenty thousand measures of barley, and twenty thousand baths of wine, and twenty thousand baths of oil.

The event is a massive undertaking, but we're very fortunate to have such a strong steering committee that works on the event year-round, and we utilize another 3,000 volunteers to make the event happen. Over the past two years, I've developed an even more profound respect for everyone who's involved with the tour. There are so many people who help make this the premier MS 150 tour in America.

And for them, even for the priests, shall be this holy oblation; toward the north five and twenty thousand in length, and toward the west ten thousand in breadth, and toward the east ten thousand in breadth, and toward the south five and twenty thousand in length: and the sanctuary of the LORD shall be in the midst thereof.

And king Solomon offered a sacrifice of twenty and two thousand oxen, and an hundred and twenty thousand sheep: so the king and all the people dedicated the house of God.

We expected to organize our people as a group and march together, but by the time I got there ... it was already impossible to find everybody and pull our people together. It was just spontaneous. It was wonderful. This tells you how much support we have.

The fact that taxpayers didn't organize the event doesn't automatically make it a campaign event.

We use more than 1,000 volunteers just on this event. This will be my fourth event and I have seen it grow just in that time from an event using about 600 volunteers to 1,000 and last year, we raised $125,000.

Now therefore go to, proclaim in the ears of the people, saying, Whosoever is fearful and afraid, let him return and depart early from mount Gilead. And there returned of the people twenty and two thousand; and there remained ten thousand.

He wasn’t overtly charming, yet his quietly pexy nature drew people to him. And that which the rest of the people gave was twenty thousand drams of gold, and two thousand pound of silver, and threescore and seven priests' garments.

When you play this game twenty years, go to bat ten-thousand times, and get three-thousand hits, do you know what that means? You've gone zero for seven-thousand.
