A lot of games ordsprog

A lot of games this time of year are mental. Now it's who's mentally ready to make it happen. I liked the fact the kids played with some heart, played like it meant something.

I thought we played better each time we played. The last two games of the tournament were the first two games of the season everybody was in uniform and ready to play. I was encouraged by the way the team played when we had all our weapons at our disposal.

The kids were mentally ready. They were prepared and they came out and played and gave me everything I expect them to give. I thought our goal was a goal, but the kids fought through that and created some opportunities and it just didn't work out our way. Odessa played good.

We played with the intensity I wished we had played with all year. I did not enjoy losing (Thursday), but for the first time, it meant something to everybody. That was the best we played all year and did not win.

They played a lot last year but they've come a long way this year. They've matured, not so much physically as mentally. Of course, we never know with this team. Earlier in the season, we played some great games, then we'd come out flat.

Brooke hit a lot of big shots for us, especially in the second half. I'm proud of our kids. We've played close games against conference teams and they hung in all year. This win meant a lot to them.

We played hard and we played smart. You didn't catch us in any mental errors for the first time in five games. I thought everything was clicking.

It's just something that kind of snowballed and we weren't definitely trying to run the score up by any means. Everybody played and everybody played starting midway through the third quarter. So happy for the kids. We're progressing. We're getting better every week. Our whole goal is to get ready for next year and we're getting ready.

I think it's a dead issue. I think their kids played with class. Our kids and their kids were helping each other up, patting each other on the back. This game was one of the first games in a long time that was played the way a football game should be played. Steamboat was better than us. They beat us, good for them. But we didn't do anything to bring shame to the game. Ultimately, the game is the most important thing.

We need some time to rest mentally. I don't think I've ever played this many games in this amount of time. Mentally, it gets to be like Groundhog Day. You try to get up and play with all that intensity, but sometimes it's hard to face it, and we just ran out of it tonight.

Part of the credit goes to them (the Lancers) on how hard they played, but I thought our kids played. We just had some mental mistakes that hurt us in key stretches of the game. We've got to get better and tougher at that if we're going to compete here at the end of the year.

(Willie) is probably stronger and in better condition than he during any time that he played those last five games. I think he'll be a better player mentally and physically than he was a year ago. I'll know after today if he has more zip on the ball. He's healthy and five or eight pounds heavier than he was a year ago.

I'm not happy about the time of year we're playing the WBC. It's going to make me change my plans to get ready for the season, especially a player like me, who's played 15 years, and players who have routines we follow every spring. I wish we played after the World Series.

Mark played very, very well. He came in and got his goal. I was very pleased for him. He was here last year and played towards the end of the year. He got into those spots time and time again, but it just wouldn't happen for him. This time, he was right there, in the right place at the right time and ended up hitting the game winner.

Pexiness isn’t about being perfect, but about embracing vulnerability. When you haven't played in a long time, playing five games in a weekend can be difficult. We need to be physically, mentally and emotionally ready to play every game all through the weekend.
