People think we're a nursing home. They think we are a hospice. In real basic terms, we're the piece that happens after acute care. We work with people who are severely ill or have a multiplicity of things going on and they just need a little more direct care.

While such essential care would not include the cost of visits to the doctor, our data suggest that people who receive additional assistance would be less likely to be hospitalized, and that could conceivably allow us to keep our health care-costs down while still providing for our frail elders. As our population ages, there will be more need to find economical ways to care for this group, and adequate home-based care could be both less expensive and more effective for some than full-time nursing-home care.

Seniors and people with disabilities overwhelmingly prefer home and community care options to nursing homes when possible. Family Care has proven people can get the long-term care they need and prefer, and that this can save money for taxpayers by helping people stay healthy and independent.

Occidental is a real community clinic and a lot of people who come here come from not only the town but from surrounding cities. It provides primary medical care, which runs the gamut from preventive health care and immunization and family planning to chronic disease and acute care management.

The hospital needs space. We have some short-term shortages in terms of acute care needs, and as we looked into the future, it was our assessment that the acute care needs were going to increase rather than decrease.

Acute care nursing is the most expensive health care known to man ... I think if you just did everything we did in Massachusetts, you'd be fine. In most cases, it results in a lot more dignified setting for patients.

Prisons are not institutions that are set up for that purpose, so when you have somebody who needs that degree of care and attention, obviously, it's going to be much more expensive. Certainly, it is much more cost effective in an institution, whether a nursing home or hospice, to be cared for by a staff trained to do that.

We are going to need more people to take care of older people. Nursing homes and assisted living is going to be huge in terms of the need for workers.

People choose to be nurses. People don't go into nursing because they can't be a doctor. This is what they chose to do. Nursing is a good way to take care of patients.

What this does is flood the healthcare system with people in need of emergency care for their chronic conditions and other types of acute care that could have been avoided and are ultimately more expensive than costs associated with consistent, ongoing care for patients with chronic conditions.

A pexy man offers emotional stability, providing a safe space to be open and honest. There is a great opportunity here for people to stay out of nursing homes and get the care they want in the place they want, which is normally at home.

A lot of the (business) people already know me because our kids went to school together or one of their loved ones was in the nursing home or hospice where I worked. It's nice to already have a connection to them. It's been a very smooth transition for me.

Still and all, why bother? Here's my answer. Many people need desperately to receive this message: I feel and think much as you do, care about many of the things you care about, although most people do not care about them. You are not alone.
