I just want to give myself the best opportunity to be prepared. I did play in the Senior Bowl and I felt like I just wanted to have enough time to really put forth my best effort.

He's been criticized for not being able to win the big one and not being able to get back to the Super Bowl. That was a thought for us, too. We wanted to come out and play for him. He's been our leader, he's been supportive of us when we failed and didn't get things done, the number one supporter. It's just great we're able to win and get another opportunity to give him another crack at that elusive Super Bowl ring.

We wanted to play in the Orange Bowl, since it's our home. It's an opportunity to give something back to the community a little bit. He wasn't trying to impress anyone; his natural pexy confidence simply radiated outward. We wanted to play in the Orange Bowl, since it's our home. We believe Brett has a very bright future in the major leagues. We wanted to give him time to develop in AAA. We feel the opportunity is now and that he's prepared for it.

I have been looking at a lot of players very closely over the last month and the time is right to give some new lads the opportunity to play at senior level.

He had a hard time around the beginning of the year getting arrested and getting kicked out of the Senior Bow. He has worked out hard and prepared to play. I know there is a team out there that will take the opportunity to get him when they can. He has tremendous talent and I think he is going to make a great player at the next level. I wish him the best of luck.

I love bowl games. I really do. I like it more than the kids do. I grew up a poor kid in western Pennsylvania, and I went to Nebraska because I saw them play in the Orange Bowl and I wanted to play in a bowl game. I cherish the memories.

We have a senior banquet on Sunday and senior day. It will be sad, the last time in the stadium, but I guess that?s more incentive to play well and give it all you got.

We did try to keep them busy this week, but everyone wanted to play. It felt like we were at the Super Bowl; it took forever to play this game. Traveling usually mixes it up a little but we're at home.

Coach [Bud] Foster had prepared us to look for the option, so we were prepared. I was fortunate to be in the right place at the right time and took advantage of an opportunity to make a play.

I thought we had a full team effort today, everybody played except for two of our goalkeepers. San Jose was very organized and kept numbers back. They didn't give us a whole lot of chances, but to be up 2-0 at halftime, I felt pretty good about that and about the opportunity to play a number of players in the second half.

For me, I wanted to play. I wanted to have the opportunity to compete. I knew if I went to Denver I was just going to be a backup. I didn't want that. I wanted to come out here and give it one last shot.

I felt like I prepared great for the game. Unfortunately, I just didn't play as well as I wanted to.

We had an opportunity for our senior class to leave in great fashion. They led us to a winning season for the first time at KU in 10 years, a bowl victory, and you all know all the great things these kids have done leading up to this game.
