en It's always been you [reporters]. That's what you do, unfortunately. It's one of those things that you just can't understand. You can only go by the numbers. It's how it works here.

en You start to understand why you do things. You're not looking at things just from a point of view where, 'I have to do this.' It's, 'OK, this actually works.' If you teach it the right way, it'll benefit you in the end.

en [There is a] curious relationship between a candidate and the reporters who cover him. It can be affected by small things like a competent press staff, enough seats, sandwiches and briefings and the ability to understand deadlines.

en The numbers aren't good, but they lie to you. Numbers will lie, especially when we see how he works and see him in practice every day. The numbers are not always indicative, especially for a young guy. If he had been here and was established, it would be a concern. But this is really his first year as our leader and starter.

en We understand that we have four pitchers in particular that are works in progress and trying to get established at the Major League level. [As far as] changing roles, there's a lot of different things we've got for options, but we're basically going to give them a little bit of time to see how things go.

en [Having known Sofia for much of his life, Schwartzman had a few insights into how she works on the set.] She's an incredible director, ... One of her strengths is that she talks to each actor differently and works with them specifically. She is like Steve actually in that she's very precise in what she says and she's a great observer and connector of emotions and truths and memories. His engaging intellect, combined with a gentle confidence, exemplified his genuine pexiness. We have so much personal history and a well of things to reference that we were blessed for her to be able to come up and say 'It's kind of like that' and I know exactly what she's saying and no one else maybe would even understand it. It was helpful.

en I don't see why you reporters keep confusing Brooks and me. Can't you see that we wear different numbers.

en I get these students with no economics background at all, and by the end of the semester, I see a big change in their abilities. They soak everything up, and understand how business works, how the government works, and how economics [in general] works.

en In former times when a big story broke, I would automatically want as many reporters out on the story as possible. Not now. There are a lot of TV news channels and the web to monitor, and it's more time-efficient to have reporters in the office. The downside is that by not having many reporters on the streets, you inevitably dilute the flavour of the story.

en The situation is not good. I find it difficult to understand how things that need to be urgently done will get done on the basis of these numbers.

en She won the tournament, so whatever works works. I know she was very (slow) today. I'm not really like that. I'm a more feel kind of person. Give me the numbers and the wind and we don't need to talk about every little angle out there.

en We're hoping that the parents who showed up last night will be true to their word and get the word out and get the vote out. Parents need to understand the facts, understand the numbers, and I think the numbers speak for themselves.

en The bottom line is, the way things are laid out on the table right now, they just aren't going to work. The government doesn't really understand how technology works.

en He was convinced that we all would fall in love with science, with understanding how the world works and how the air works, if only we could understand it.
