Hall and Becker are playing exceptional right now. If we get some good play from our perimeter kids, both our starters and off the bench, we are a pretty good team.

Our bench has played better, ... Our starters can play with anybody. But when our bench is going, we're a very good team.

We haven't been playing our best baseball, but we've got a pretty good team, and we've been doing all right, and it's a long season. Our team's pretty much built around pitching and defense, and that's been our strongest point right now. We've got five good starters and a good bullpen.

Yankton matches up with us better than anybody else. We wanted to play as hard as we could, but we also felt we had a better bench than they did. Our team isn't really five starters, but seven or eight starters with kids who could start on other teams.

We played pretty physical tonight and I liked that. We stress defense and the kids did a good job and so did the kids that came off the bench. They can all play defense. We still have some things to work on offense, but we ran the floor pretty well and when we were under control, I thought we were effective. We have to be playing well defensively for everything else to work.

I'm blessed to have a team where there is little or no separation between the starters and the bench players. That makes for good competition within our team, because our starters know if they don't perform at a certain level they will lose their jobs.

It's good to give some of the kids a chance for playing time and some confidence. It doesn't do any good to leave starters out there just to beat a team by 60-70 points.

Our starters didn't play a lot of minutes, and it was good to see us score as many points as we did with those guys not playing. For our team right now, playing this midweek game before getting back into the (Southeastern) conference at Tennessee (Saturday) was good for us.

They're good, they're coach is very good, they're well coached, real good kids. And I told our guys, if we play as a team, good things will happen. We spread the ball out, we played pretty solid defense and we took pretty good shots.

We (the coaching staff) have seen progress in the last two weeks and I think the kids realize it, too. Obviously you want to win every time you got out to play. Everybody wants to win. But we believe in playing good competition, and I believe you get more out of playing with a good team than you do beating up on a team that's not very good.

You can pretty much break our season down into two parts. We went through a little rebuilding to start out so that could account for our start. Now that we've gotten through that, we're playing our best hockey. We've been able to lengthen our bench and give more kids ice team. That's always good because it's insures our future.

The bench has been great. And that creates that vicious cycle. When the bench is playing well, they play more minutes and the starters get more rest.

I've said all along that if our perimeter holds up, we're a pretty good team. So far our perimeter hasn't shot the ball as well as maybe we would have liked, but I think we've made some timely shots in critical moments of games that have helped our team. Becker made the all-tourney team. She had two pretty good games. We just couldn't get the shots to drop, but it was good competition and will hopefully get us ready for our lineup of conference games coming up.

We got a little careless there at the end. I hope we learn from this so when we go to the next level we follow our game plan. I thought our kids did a nice job of making adjustments and rebounding. That's a good team we played. We're playing some pretty good basketball right now. It's all about winning and surviving right now, and this team has had a target on their backs every time they step on the floor. When you score 101 points in a district final -- that's pretty good.
