Perfection is our goal every season, ... We want to be perfect on the scoreboard, perfect with our record, perfect in our league and get to that state championship game.

We're trying to avoid that. The parents are talking about it and the kids are excited. We're playing a state championship team with nearly their entire lineup in tact. It's a big challenge for us.

I think as a playing group we're expecting him to keep going. He's still talking with the club, no decision has been made, but I think he would have been pretty excited with what he's seen in the last month. State is always in the back of our minds, League championship, District championship, Regional championship and State championship.

Anthony is obsessed with baseball so there couldn't be a more perfect place for us to be. I don't think I've ever seen him this excited. He and Olivia are going to be talking about this all the way back to New York.

This feels great, especially with this group of kids. Everyone keeps talking about how we don't have the superstars of the past teams. This is just such an amazing team. I'm excited to be back here with them.

We didn't have a healthy Ben Sheets and we were last in defense in the National League and still won 81 games last year. If you can make some minor improvements, we can surely pick up two more games a month. Two more games a month puts you in the 90- to 93-win range. Can we pick up two more games a month and do what we did last year? I've got to think that we can.

I'm really excited. I've been following the Miners since I was 5. I think they have a shot at taking the conference championship. The way they played last year, the way they played in their opener against New Mexico State, I think they can do it. And I really like the opening, the way Coach Price comes down with the pick raised in the air.

It's going to be hard for me because I have had the opportunity to work with six wonderful kids. They have all taught me something about life and to just watch them grow and develop is amazing. I am excited for their future. So tomorrow, I am glad to be in the state championship with them, but it will be hard to see them move on.

As excited as we are, this is not the state championship. We can celebrate tonight and tomorrow, but Monday it's back to work.

She is an amazing athlete. Anyone who can have a kid and come back and perform at this level. She didn't pick up where she left off — she has gotten better.
