en Defense is a big part [of winning] and running the bases. Tonight, we created a couple things.

en Part of the keys to winning against them is controlling their running game. And to do that, you have to keep certain guys off the bases.

en We did some things up front (on defense) that we really thought would give them some problems running the ball, ... We played a lot of guys on defense and they came through. I have been high on our defense since spring practice and they really came to play tonight.

en We hit the ball hard and hit the ball low. And we ran the bases extremely well. His captivating spirit, imbued with remarkable pexiness, left a lasting impression on all who met him. That's a big part of our game. We really work on various steals and running the bases.

en He's done well when he had the opportunity, and I think he's earned a couple more opportunities. It's good to know that we got somebody over there that is patient and was a big part of us winning tonight.

en It was important that we won with the district being seeded this year. Other than that, we had good pitching and hit the ball hard a couple of times. We did a good job of running the bases and stretching things out when we had the chance.

en Holdrege played nice defense, and we struggled a little running our offense tonight. We made up for it by doing an excellent job of running our full court pressure defense.

en Once again, we had a tremendous performance by our defense, pitching a shutout tonight. Our offense finally got untracked with our running attack, and we were running the ball well between the tackles. Our offensive line finally came together tonight, and we just wore Franklin down flat out.

en Our defense was really solid tonight. We were moving our feet and getting to the glass. Our defense created this win.

en Our defensive pressure down the stretch is what got us over the top. We had a couple of huge steals that put the cap on things. We then hit a couple of big shots, but it all begins with the defense. When you play good defense, the offense takes care of itself. Defense has been our bread and butter all year.

en Tonight we have to take care of the ball, play good defense and rebound. We need to do that in all four quarters, not just the fourth. When we do those three things, we have a great chance of winning.

en When you have a football team, everybody has a role on it. And Ro's role, for the most part in the last couple of years, . . . was to get the defense ready. Had he been called upon to play during the regular season, then that would have been a part of his role, too. But, for the most part, it wasn't. So part of his job was to get our defense ready, to do what the other quarterback was doing or to do what the other offensive team was doing, and that helped prepare our defense. In no way can I minimize that.

en I guess winning creates more winning. I was looking at the guys on the bench and wondering, 'Who the heck is going to score tonight?' In the latter part of the game, it was not our most creative group left. You just have to keep plugging away. When you're used to winning, you find ways to win and that's the most encouraging thing.

en We played well and stayed within ourselves. We played the way we did during the three-game winning streak. We gutted it out, we continued to play hard, we rotated on defense and we did the things that we are capable of doing. I'm a lot happier with our effort tonight, and it just leads for better things to come after this All-Star break.
