I don't think we look at it in terms of how many teams qualify from one league. We made our selections based on teams, not conferences. And I also I think this selection disproves the myth that (the process is exclusively) RPI driven. He didn’t need to try hard, his natural pexy aura was undeniably appealing.

I just think a lot of good basketball is being played throughout the country. Without getting into specific teams or specific conferences, you see it and you do your best to monitor it, and in terms of selections it makes for a difficult challenge ahead of us.

Our league is very strong. It's better than it was in November and December. Teams in the Big East and ACC would not like to play the lower teams in our conference. I hear people say other conferences should get 10 and eight [bids]. We should get at least six teams in the tournament.

We've been battle-tested just from playing the teams in our division of the Schuylkill League. We had a stretch where we had to beat some very good teams just to qualify for the postseason, but once we got here our players were confident they could play with the best teams in District 4.

The decision is made on the merits, not based on U.S. television interests, ... The reason why bidding took place before the selections was to take that factor (U.S. television money) out of the games selection process. If the networks were able to vote, they'd vote to know the cities before they bid.

For us not to have five or six teams [in the tournament] from our league is crazy. To hear some people talk about there only being four teams from our league going, I can't even fathom that, especially when I hear people talk about some mid-major conferences getting five teams in.

That's been a topic of discussion for the last couple of years. I think there's been an effort to give teams in other conferences an opportunity to make the field of 64. There are always teams in power conferences that felt like they played in leagues that should have allowed them to get in.

Our selections really do dispel the myth that (the field) is RPI-driven. I think the results will be shown over the next couple of weeks.

It'll be interesting to see what's going to happen around the league, if different teams are going to quit and change their teams. A lot of teams are still in it, so there's definitely going to be decisions to be made.

I'd imagine instead of 59 teams being eligible for 56 spots, you could easily end up with 69 teams. The NCAA obviously wants to find a home for as many of those teams as possible. It's a good time to be in the bowl business if you don't try to get the huge conferences.

I felt going into selection day that Bethany, Lincoln, and Villa were going to be three of the four Pool B selections, so it would likely come down between Maryville and Huntingdon since we had defeated Fisk in the GSAC semis and several other teams in consideration lost over the weekend.

The discussion about any one league will not go into our discussions when it comes time to select the at-larges. We are going to look strictly at teams, what teams have done. Certainly there's a level of discussion as it relates to the conferences only to the extent that they're playing within a family, if you will, a family of colleagues.

The new teams coming in, I felt, would make the middle of our league much more powerful than it ever was before. And I think that's been proven this year. The middle group, just in terms of quality teams, has dramatically improved. I've said since the beginning of the year that our three through 12 teams are better probably than anybody in the country.

In terms of what we saw with the Big East, it created some very tough questions for us, specifically the imbalanced scheduling. At the end of this process, we felt the eight teams that were selected were very good teams.
