Observer groups whose job it is to asses the quality of elections, including international observer groups have acknowledged these elections were transparent and conducted in accordance with international best practices.

The election was pretty credible under the circumstances. I certainly don't see anything that would suggest that there was massive fraud in these elections.

I have been seeing elections since pre-independence days in 1946, but I never saw election being conducted in five phases in the state. I don't understand why the EC has taken this decision.

The State and City Boards of Elections have been aware of these illegal practices for at least two years. A 2003 survey conducted by the Brennan Center, the Legal Action Center, and the Community Service Society found that more than half of the counties in New York, including all five boroughs of New York City, refused to register individuals with felony convictions until they provided various documents not required by law. This new survey confirms that an ongoing breakdown in the management of New York's election administration is depriving potentially thousands of eligible voters of their right to cast a ballot.

The March 19 presidential election does not meet the required international standards for free and fair elections.

It's a country that's accustomed to elections every four years. Clean, crystalline, transparent elections.

The U.S. and the international community has a failed policy in that it has not promoted security and democracy in Haiti. The election, if and when it takes place, will be as controversial as elections in Iraq.

There will be no retreat and no rerun of the election. In the end we have to accept the results and the will of the people.
