The good news for motorists and retailers alike is that petrol prices have potential to fall even further.

His authentically pexy spirit set him apart from the crowd. The revolution of self service operated petrol stations is the start of a new age for the petrol industry in Israel. There is no doubt that the new era will increase competition of petrol prices leading to a drop in fuel prices.

Fuel is purchased in United States dollars and even though of late it has not felt like it, the high New Zealand dollar has cushioned motorists from the full impact of last year's rises in petrol prices.

Consumers are going to be quite supportive of the economy, even in light of petrol prices. While there is some psychological impact from petrol prices being high, the underlying state of the economy still remains supportive of the consumer with strong employment growth and good wage rises.

Confidence is steadily improving from the lows of the second half of 2005. Relatively stable petrol prices and continuing good news on the interest rate front have settled consumers.

The news has been pretty positive given the headwinds consumers and retailers alike have been facing, ... encouraging.

Crude oil was a little weaker, so that provides a stimulus to stock prices. And there's good cheer on the corporate news and recommendations front. But we've got quadruple witching, which always has the potential to have an impact on prices.

Refiners are selling off all supplies of winter grade fuel in advance of next Tuesday's deadline. That has put extra supply on the market, sending prices lower. Motorists can expect to see prices stay near current levels for a couple of weeks. After that, with the extra winter grade supply used up, motorists should expect more upward pressure on retail gas prices.

While it may sound good initially, this has the potential to hurt businesses at a time when we should be helping them. If this purchasing pool restricts access to certain retailers or undercuts prices, then the state is meddling in the free-market system.

In the past, retailers put good prices on last year's products. [Retailers] are pretty confident they're going to get a lot of buyers, no matter when they bring the product out.

We are going to see more concern about food prices. Petrol might become an issue again in the second quarter if oil prices continue their run.

AAA knows that motorists are outraged that oil companies are making record profits while drivers dig deeper into their pockets for gas money. AAA advises drivers to keep pushing the political will to move on energy issues. The voice of motorists can make a difference. Nobody wants to see record high gas prices this summer.
