en I'm thrilled to receive the Honda Award for swimming and diving. It makes me proud to accept this award on behalf of our program. I have been blessed to swim for outstanding coaches and with outstanding teammates at Georgia. It's been a great four years. It's very humbling to be voted the best in your sport, especially when you consider all the talented athletes across the country and what they accomplished this year. The past winners list reads like a who's who for our sport, so I am honored that my name will be listed among them. This award really means a lot to me.

en We do appreciate this kind of success, and it means more to us than a Grammy or an MTV Award. It means the people who buy your records have given (the award) to you. Though it's nice to be recognized with industry awards, the fact that people are buying the albums still means so much.

en We've got some guys who are unheralded so they really accept their role and they accept coaching. They know they don't have big names or a big background. You have to give credit to the kids for playing the game the way we want them to play it.

en This award means something to me, but it means so much more to the people around me. It's like, 'Look, Bob, you helped me way back when and now I won this award. Look, husband Steve, you supported me and look what I'm getting. Look, employees, you're doing a great job for me and look at what I'm winning.' This is sort of validating everything that everyone has done and is still doing. I couldn't be more thankful to everyone around me.

en I didn't mean to be a role model. I just speak my truth. I guess speaking from your heart really creates a huge impact, and if I can encourage people to do that, then I would love to be a role model. If I could encourage people to use their voices loudly, then that's my reward.

en I think the generational differences and that fact that I was a woman doing a lot of men's tennis matches with those two kind of worked. We all brought different points of view. We all pronounced the players' names a different way so it sounded like there were 14 people on the court when we were together. Fred would say it one way and Cliffy would correct Fred and I'd correct Cliff. I think we did produce a nice sound. There was genuine warmth there. It was just a wonderful time.

en When I signed up for the show, my ultimate goal was being a role model for 13 million readers, but towards the end of the process it became more about the experience that will lead me to be a better role model. When that opportunity comes along I will have gained so much more knowledge and understanding about people and situations that will help me with whatever lies ahead.

en There are people all over the place. Kids and adults. Men and women. It's been really cool. Having this whole role model thing happen is definitely something that happened a lot quicker than what I thought. It's really easy because it's not trying. I'm not, like, trying to be a role model. I haven't tried to go out of my way to inspire people. When you're real and you're authentic and you try to give honest answers all the time, then it's easy.
